The Houston Rockets have signed Mario Chalmers to a four year deal today. He is expected to assume the starting PG position for the Rockets, and the deal is rumored to be the full four year, 21 million dollar mid level exception.

"I'm looking forward to playing major minutes for a contender. The Rockets went to the Finals last year and we can do it again this year," said Chalmers via phone interview. "I want to help make James [Harden] and Iggy's [Andre Iguodala] job easier. Maybe this time we can bring the trophy home."

Wow, Hawks lose out on Chalmers and he heads out West for a chance to out the Rockets over the hump. Nice signing by Houston.

Congrats, I knew it was you Willy. He deserves to start and he'll do well beside two ball dominant wings. Similar setup to the '12 Heat.

Surprised ATL didn't match that.

Both teams had similar offers, but Mario valued the opportunity Houston gave him the most. Both from a contending and playing time perspective.

Oh yeah that makes sense. HOU needs a starting PG.

Yeah, I tried to trade for him last season but you weren't havin' it lol.

Also figured you'd like Chalmers portrayal of BJ Armstrong from the early 90's Bulls team which I'm trying to pattern this team after.

Definitely hope he can have the same affect with us and be a spotup shooter/ defender for us.

Yeah, I was thinking Kerr with better defense and less shooting ability but BJ Armstrong is a better comparison. Adding a guy like Jefferson/Bosh/ would be a fundamental change in philosophy, but Bargnani played a key role in your run last season.
