Golden State Warriors Send
Gorgui Dieng - $1,159,000

for

Boston Celtics Send
Rights to #18 (Glenn Robinson)

Why for Warriors ?

Dieng is a defensive specialist without a doubt. Has plenty of room to grow and put up 1.5BPG in just 17 minutes per game last season. So why make the trade ? A true SF is a hole we need to fill and could have very easily done it in free agency, but we've had our eye on Robinson. While we don't expect him to make any sort of immediate contribution, he should develop into a pretty solid player if I'm reading into everything correctly. With Chandler, Kanter, Lee in the paint, Dieng's minutes would have been similar to that of last season as we want these vets to get plenty of playing time. Glenn will be a solid fit and allow us more lineup flexibility and perhaps one day hopefully become the starter.

Boston accepts.
We needed a defensive minded Center for our second unit and we are pretty sure we found one here.
Without any scouting informations about Centers it was hard to figure out who could be the best fit, so it was a no brainer for us to trade for Dieng. Also he has still 3 rookie years left what fits great into our long term plan. We now got Young, Dieng and Shabazz for Vucevic.
Good dealing GS!
