CSL Tonite! The Other Guys

Hi! I'm Mindy Mindy and this is CSL Tonite!

We have Steve Smith who'll be joining us to take a look at some of the underrated FA's this offseason in the CSL, so Smitty... take it away!


Well everyone knows about the big name guys or the guys who've been playing tremendously or had a big impact on their teams this past season, the Kobe Bryant's, the Andre Iguodala's, the Isaiah Thomas', the Pau Gasol's, the Gordon Hayward's and Paul Pierce's but tonite Mindy, I'm here to focus on the smaller name guys, the little known guys that may not get the hype of the other name guys in Free Agency so I'll give you my list of 3 guys who I feel will have an impact on winning basketball games for alot of teams out there... Guys I like to call, "The Other Guys".

Starting off Mindy we have my guy Greivis Vasquez of the New Orleans Pelicans, he's a floor general who can find the open man...still needs to work on his shot a bit but boy can he pass that ball! He sets his teammates up to score or put them in position to score and last but not least he can defend his position, not the fastest feet but makes up for it with great positioning or leading guys into his help defenders... He put up 12pts, 3rebs, and nearly 6asts and I look for teams like the Rockets, the Phoenix Suns, OKC, or the 76ers to make a run for this guy.




Next up Mindy, we have Evan Turner of the Cleveland Cavaliers. Here's a guy who can defend well at either the SG or SF spot, he can push the ball and make something happen for his team in transition, he's a crafty player as you can see, watch him go baseline and be patient with the ball, he recognizes he has a taller slower defender on him, he takes one hard dribble and pulls up for the shot.. Again you can see he has the handles to initiate the offense as well as come off screens to pull up for the jumper, he has to work on his consistency and I think if he can find a team to provide him a defined role and stability he can flourish and help that team win some ball games. I could see him in a situation like Portland where he can come in for an Avery Bradley and be a guy who can provide depth but also be a quality starter. He put up 8pts, 3rebs, and 4asts a game so I'm sure he'll find a home somewhere Mindy.




Then finally Mindy you have an Ed Davis who is a guy who can finish at the rim over guys as you can see he gets the and one against Dirk, he's a legit rebounder and defender, who'll get in there and mix it up with guys plus he'll sneak in there and get some garbage baskets as well if you don't box him out... He put up 12pts, 8rebs, almost 2blks, and 1stl a game I mean that's impressive and there are plenty of teams who can use a young guy like that....



And there you have it Mindy, the Other Guys!


So Smitty, which guy or guys of the 3 do you see leaving their old teams and moving on?



Honestly Mindy I could see all 3 guys leaving, in New Orleans they drafted a Gary Harris and also have a Marcus Smart to run the lead Guard position, in Cleveland Evan Turner played a minor role off the bench and I could see him going to a Portland or a Detroit, and then there's Ed Davis who could possibly stay in Sacramento and grow with that team but could also see a team like the Pelicans or the Sixers making a run at Davis but he could be the only one to possibly stay put.

People should know that Vasquez is not leaving New Orleans without us receiving something in return.

Says everybody who has ever had an unrestricted free agent, ever.

Vasquez has low loyalty and wants to play for a winner.... sucks to be the Pelicant's, ouch.
