College Basketball
I don't know if anyone here is interested in college basketball, but its almost March Madness time with all of the conference tournaments going on right now.
Maybe we could set up a CSL tournament challenge?
I'm at the Big Ten Tournament for the IU vs. Illinois and Purdue vs. Ohio State games right now.

Pretty difficult to follow College Basketball in Germany/Europe. All I know about rookies I know from Youtube/the Internet. Sad Story.

2. There's 4 games both today and tomorrow but they divide them up into 2 sessions with 2 games each and they make everyone leave between sessions.
IU is getting beaten by Illinois as we speak and a little later theres Purdue vs. OSU. I was hoping to see IU make a run in the Big Ten to get into the tournament bracket, but it seems that's not gonna happen. They're NIT bound a year after being a 1 seed. Sigh.

Re: College Basketball
UNLV plays Wyoming this afternoon in MW tournament play. Runnin' Rebels need to win the auto-bid to get in, IMO. Funny thing is, during my long undergrad wanderings, I went to Wyoming for a semester.
Would love to go to the game, but there's no way I could then make it to class on another campus, so I have to find somewhere near that other campus to watch on TV.

I love college basketball. I think it's easily the most exciting sport of all. The kids play so hard for their school and the crowds are awesome.
Re: College Basketball
Michigan narrowly escaped Illinois today. That would have been big for my Badgers getting 1 seed consideration. Rooting for the Huskers to take down the Suckeyes right now, love what coach Miles has done with that team.

Re: College Basketball
I don't see anyway Wisconsin get's a #1 seed. Perhaps a #2, but they'll most likely get a #3 seed.

I think there may be a very outside shot that the Badgers could get a 1 if they win their tourney. If they make a good run they'll get a 2. If they get put out early I could see a 3.
Obviously Michigan has the best chance of getting a 1 seed, which I think they will if they win the tourney.

Re: College Basketball
No chance the Badgers get a 1 seed. Not gonna happen. They've had some pretty bad losses this year like the one to IU.

Re: College Basketball
If they win the Big Ten tourney, I think they are in strong consideration. Yeah, bad losses (Northwestern was the worst, can live with IU since it was away an a hostile environment), but look who we have beaten as well. Our RPI is extremely good. Who gets the nod over them? Kansas? Michigan? Syracuse? I think we are right in the conversation.
Still likely a 2 seed, but it's ignorant to say UW has a 0% chance at a 1 seed. Lunardi says it's possible, and CBSSports.com actually likes UW's chance at a 1.

Re: College Basketball
The number 1 seedsre probably Kansas, Cuse, Wichita St (because they're undefeated), and Michigan. Even if Wisconsin wins the big ten, which I think is unlikely in the first place, I don't think they can break that list. Those 4 teams have been better than Wisconsin imo.

I could definitely see Louisville getting a 1 seed over Syracuse, Michigan and Wisconsin.

Re: College Basketball
No Florida? Guessing you just forgot about them. Cuse as a 1 is crazier than UW, imo.
I think it ends up:
1's:
Florida
Wichita State
Arizona
Kansas or UW or Michigan (Let's say Kansas)
2's:
Wisconsin
Michigan
Syracuse
Villanova
If UW or Michigan wins the B1G Tourney, I think they could steal that last #1. A decent amount of experts agree.

That would be shocking to me, but you never know. I think Louisville is a 3 seed as it stands, maybe a 2...Rizzo (NO) wrote:I could definitely see Louisville getting a 1 seed over Syracuse, Michigan and Wisconsin.

Re: College Basketball
Got a free ticket to the Mountain West women's conference tournament semifinal games. Had a rooting interest in Wyoming because I went there a semester, but they lost by 3 points due to a missed buzzer beater in an amazing triple OT game to Colorado State (also the Pokes' main rival, but it's a rivalry that lacked the heat of say, UNLV/UNR or Minnesota/Wisconsin).
Second game was Fresno State/UNR so of course I was cheering for the Bulldogs to kick ass. First half was back and forth with Fresno State putting up a ton of turnovers, but also up by 5 at the break because of their terrific shooting. Second half was pretty much all Bulldogs as they went up by 55-39 before ending it with an 82-71 victory.
Enjoyed it so much I went and bought a ticket for the championship games tomorrow. Seat's not the greatest, but it'll be fine. Figured this may be my last shot to go to a conference tournament championship game, at least here, if I'm living somewhere else in March.
Now I just have to hope UNLV wins tonight so I can see them play tomorrow.

A bit off topic maybe, but did you attend these games by yourself? I am stationed in Tucson (Where Arizona plays) and so many times when my girlfriend has either been in class/working they have had a game and I was always tempted to buy a single ticket and just go enjoy it, but I always felt like it would be odd lol.

UMass plays back to back terrible games in the A10 game and gets beat against GW. We were lucky to beat URI and this was not a good way to go into the NCAA tournament.
