Hit the Road Jack...
In a shocking turn of events, the Washington Wizards today announced they have fired GM Cyrisnyte. The reason given was simple and to the point.
The shockwave ripped through the CSL. Many remember that GM Cyrisnyte had to step down recently as the GM of the Minnesota Timberwolves due to family issues. He was gone and missed out on seeing a great rookie season by Ben McLemore whom he made a trade for on draft day. He had just recently came back and seemed to be settling into position in Washington when he said he was asked to meet with CEO Ted Leonsis.
While many feel this may have been it for GM Cyrisnyte, it didn't take long for his phone to ring. On the other end you ask?
GM Cyrisnyte spent less than 24 hours unemployed. The call came in and GM Cyrisnyte who has a summer home in Orlando flew down with his family to meet with the Magic Organization. Once things were hashed out, the Magic made the announcement that GM Cyrisnyte was their new man. GM Cyrisnyte was assured that he had final say in all personal decisions including the players as well as the coaching staff.
While the Magic have been anything but magical, posting a 11-71 record last year in the CSL, they do own the #1 overall pick in the draft. Many speculate that GM Cyrisnyte will be selecting SF Andrew Wiggins to help lead the Magic out of the cellar. If anyone knows how the GM operates though, they should expect the unexpected. Many other GMs here in the CSL know that GM Cyrisnyte loves his point guards and he may just move the pick for the right offer. GM Cyrisnyte has his work cut out for him with the roster in Orlando but he has been known to figure out a pattern for success in the past. The question now though is…can he do it with the Magic?
Ted Leonsis - CEO of Monumental Sports & Entertainment wrote:We decided today that the best interest of the Washington Wizards franchise was to part ways with GM Cyrisnyte. While we were excited to have him come aboard just recently, we soon learned he was not the fit we were looking for. As soon as the off-season was on the horizon we were shocked to learn that he was actively shopping who we consider the faces of the franchise in John Wall and Blake Griffin. We have an investment in these players as well as a desire to provide our fans with a top notch entertainment and winning product. We cannot understand why GM Cyrisnyte would have thought we supported the possible movement of our two biggest stars.

GM Cyrisnyte wrote:Ted asked me to come into his office. When I walked in and saw Don Nelson there as well, I kind of figured something big was going on. I'll admit I was caught off guard when Don begin to say how I was trying to destroy the team by wanting to move Blake and John. I made it quite clear, I was not trying to move either but was seeing what the market value of them were. You can't just sit back and expect to win. Moves have to be made and if the Washington Wizards are afraid to make them, at least they had the guts to make one with me. I hold no ill will towards the organization and I had time to sit down with John Wall and Blake Griffin to make sure they know how much I value them as players and more importantly as people.

Well you're definitely going to start with some solid building blocks. Wiggins, Giannis, Ledo, Noel.. Definitely going to be a solid core down in Orlando.
Re: Hit the Road Jack...
Yeah a really nice core moving forward.

So, according to Ted Leonsis, WAS are better off with no GM at all than with Cyrisnyte... you must have pissed him off big time
Anyway good group in ORL - still far removed from doing anything impactful in the league but the future is bright...

Doesn't surprise me. As bad as Orlando was this past season they do have an attractive roster of young talent to go along with the always coveted #1 picks and the rights to select Andrew Wiggins or Alex Len. Definitely a bright future in the Sunshine State.

Good core of Noel and Giannis and the number 1 overall pick. Ledo and Larkin are decent as well.

The Wizards firing a good GM? Even more proof that the franchise in Washington is incompetent!

Love that situation in ORL. Expect a call or two from Milwaukee.
