Derrick Williams Signs with Thunder
Derrick Williams has signed a 3 year deal with the Oklahoma City Thunder. It is worth their mini mid-level exception, meaning the total value of the contract is somewhere between 9-10M.
"Derrick's value certainly dropped since being drafted #2 overall," admitted his agent, Shawn Carter. "But he was promised a starting spot in Oklahoma City, and an organization that knows how to win. He'll be able to learn from some great people like all-time great Phil Jackson."
"I'm happy to be headed to a winning situation. Memphis was rough man. I'm excited to get out there and play for the Thunder though," Williams said in his press conference. "Hopefully I'll be able to showcase what I'm worth and teams will see where I'm at in my peak. I'm ready for this."

Welcome abroad young fella!
You'll have plenty of opportunity to prove to the league you deserve to be among the best!
Hope that experience pays off to our organization and to you also!
Enjoy your 3 years at OKC!

Decent signing. If he can get his shooting percentages up then it could be a steal.

Could have gotten more in Boston, we needed a tweener. Just like said its not possible to sign a Player as a rebuilding Team. You Need to overpay heavily to have a Chance. Like for Hayward. Good luck in okc.

A good decent signing by the Thunder. I've always liked Derrick Williams, have thought that he just needs to find the right team (in the NBA).

Re: Derrick Williams Signs with Thunder
Well, that means Corey Brewer will come off the bench, and George will play his natural position. We have a though defensive, rebounding team, with capable scorers in all positions.
If you think it will be easy to beat my Thunder with Lowry / George / Williams / Millsap / Howard, and Brewer & Hibbert coming off the bench, think again.
That's 70 + defense at every position, and elite level D at one wing and at C position, the player who commands the D. Every one knows great defense starts at the rim. And, when someone goes out, another great defensive player will come in.
We're making sure there are no easy baskets here.
And, depending on the matchup, Williams can go to the bench, and Brewer can start at the 2, so George starts at the 3.

"Depending on the matchup Williams can go to the bench..."
But didn't you just promise the young man he'd be the starter to get him to sign?

He WILL start man.
I'm just saying that if in the playoffs things go wrong he can go to the bench.
And even at midseason.
If he does not play well with George, why can't I move him to the bench?
I'm promising him the chance to start. After that, he has to prove that he deserves to start over Brewer. He will have his chance, I'll be patient with the kid. But it's up to him now.

Put together bad english with lack of facial expressions and that makes a great explanation of why I didn't understand :p
Sry my man, didn't mean to be harsh either.
Anyway, you can simulate some games with Williams as a starter
I hope I have what it takes to beat you now

I like Williams as a player but his percentages were putrid. Maybe he can revive his career in OKC.
