Where Are They Now?
A look at where former Dallas Mavericks players are now and how they're playing for their new teams.
A look at where former Dallas Mavericks players are now and how they're playing for their new teams.
I'm not sure about a lot of people around the league, but I sometimes, will check up on my old players to see how they're doing with their new teams and if they're making a good impact or just coasting and riding the bench. So I went did a little bit of searching and hunting to check everyone out.
[NOTE: Stats were recorded 2 sims ago!]
Tony Parker - Indiana Pacers, 33.5MPG, 15.9PPG, 6.7APG, 2.9RPG, .51% FG
Tony Parker is currently playing for his second team since being traded by the Dallas Mavericks. On the Atlanta Hawks, he couldn't quite find his rhythm and struggled playing along side Harrison Barnes, DeMarcus Cousins, and others. Now though, he's landed himself in Indiana...playing with the likes of LeBron James, Kobe Bryant, and Dirk Nowitzki...Talk about a star-studded lineup. Since coming to Indiana, it looks as if he's been able to return to the Tony Parker we know.
Patric Young - Boston Celtcs, 31.3MPG, 10PPG, .8APG, 9.6RPG, 1.2BPG, 53% FG
This is a guy whom I really liked when I took over the Dallas Mavericks. Have you seen his rebounding and defensive ratings?! He's got loads of potential to be a defensive juggernaut. In his sophomore season in the league, he's putting up similar numbers that he put up playing for Dallas. He may not be able to score the ball well but that doesn't matter much. I hated giving up Young when I did, but I knew that he would be going to a great team under great management.
Wesley Matthews - Brooklyn Nets, 29.8MPG, 9.7PPG, 1.7APG, 3.3RPG, 1.2SPG, .41% FG
Being a true life Blazers fan, I wanted to hang onto Wes when I got this team. But...this league is a business and you've got to do what you need to do to improve your team. And while it appears that Wesley may be struggling so far this season, you have to remember that GM Goikiri hasn't been around to manage his team during the entire month as he's been on vacation. I think that, once Goikiri comes back, he'll be able to fully utilize Wesley's scoring and defensive abilities.
Alec Burks - Washington Wizards, 21MPG, 7.6PPG, 1.4APG, 2.2RPG, .8SPG, .40% FG
This is another player that really grew on me during the short time that I had him. He got to the point where he earned the starting shooting guard spot on the roster along with Parker, Matthews, Young, and Zeller. I hated letting him walk but it was a tough decision that I made and by the looks of it...he's having himself a great year in Washington coming off the bench and leading them in scoring by far. He landed himself a decent 4 year contract too, Washington got a bit of a steal signing Burks to his contract.
Kyle Korver - Portland Trail Blazers, 22.5MPG, 6.3PPG, 1.4APG, 2.7RPG, .5SPG, .51% FG, .51% 3FG
I tried putting Korver into the starting lineup to give the Mavericks towards the end of the season, a bit more scoring, but it didn't quite work out that way for us. After being traded to the Boston Celtics during the off season, the Celtics let him walk. As soon as the season was about to start, the Trail Blazers signed two sharpshooters at the same time...Kyle Korver and Ray Allen. Korver has helped Portland get to an incredible start. "Kyle Korver had a gigantic impact on POR this season. He is a lethal shooter and his presence on the court allows Lillard and Aldridge to operate without a fear of a double team. Lillard in particular has benefited - he is such a good passer that you don't dare to double team with Korver on the court. you know you're going to pay. Also, his veteran presence has been great for us. He and Ray Allen do not boast big numbers but make a massive difference." Portland GM Andrei said.
Gerald Green - Milwaukee Bucks, 32MPG, 11PPG, 2APG, 4RPG, .5SPG, .5BPG, .39% FG
At first glance, you would think that Gerald Green is having himself a decent year in Milwaukee and getting some great playing time...but then you look at some more stats and realize...he's only played two games for the Bucks so far this season. You would think that Green would be able to get a little bit more playing time under a young Bucks roster...but it doesn't appear to be that way. Now, it just seems like he's there for his expiring contract...Maybe next year, Green will find himself on a more suitable team.
Alex Poythress - 5.9MPG, 2.6PPG, .4APG, 1.3RPG, .48% FG
Tough year for Poythress this year. He went from playing 70 games and starting 59 in Dallas, to having new management come in and take his starting spot and give it to someone else, finding himself in limited minutes off the bench in Dallas to being traded to a young rebuilding team in Milwaukee...to rarely playing much anymore these days. Tough break for the youngster but that's the CSL life...just be ready if your number is called upon...
Andray Blatche - Minnesota Timberwolves, 13.6MPG, 3.1PPG, .6APG, 3RPG, .36% FG, .50% 3FG
Andray Blatche wasn't having a good year in Dallas, he was miserable. When I took over the team, I tried starting him and giving him minutes to play, but he couldn't produce. It wasn't a good fit for both sides...and as a result, Blatche opted out of his contract to test the FA waters. He then landed himself with the Timberwolves, who are having a sub-par year so far (not meeting expectations). Blatche has provided some good burn here and there, so not a bad place for him in Minny.
Baron Davis - Oklahoma City Thunder, 10.8MPG, 2.9PPG, 1.8APG, 1.2RPG, .48% FG, .52% 3FG
Right now, Baron Davis has found himself a great team in a great position with a great front office. He's not expected to play a whole lot of minutes, in fact, has only appeared in 19 games so far this season...and it seems like he's okay with that. He's bringing great leadership to the table for the Thunder right now, who are a lock for the playoffs this year. After a dismal year in Dallas, being traded to a rebuilding squad in Boston (who renounced his rights giving him freedom to sign anywhere), he's in OKC and loving it.
Antawn Jamison - Free Agent, N/A
Right now, Antawn Jamison is jobless and looking for a team to pick him up so that he can add his veteran leadership to a ball club. After being traded to the Boston Celtics during the off season, the Celtics declined his team option and renounced his rights, giving him freedom, like Davis mentioned above, to sign anywhere...It's just no one has given him a call yet.
Marcus Camby - Retired
After spending 18 years in the league...Camby decided to call it quits finally. When I took over this team, I gave him some decent minutes, but quickly saw that he wasn't capable of playing the minutes I wanted him to play...and it seems as if he realized that too. So Marcus Camby did what was best for him, and retired from the CSL.
Cody Zeller - Dallas Mavericks, 9.8MPG, 4.5PPG, .5APG, 2.6RPG, .3BPG, .46FG
Jared Cunningham - Dallas Mavericks, 12.3MPG, 4.1PPG, .6APG, 1.3RPG, .54% FG, .41% 3FG
Joel Freeland - Dallas Mavericks, N/A
And the last three players from last years team...are still with the Dallas Mavericks. I like all of these guys (still on Dallas after all) and I like what they bring to the table. I would love to try and get a bit more playing time for Cody Zeller as I think he's a great big in the league to have, whether you're starting him or he's a key role player off the bench, I've seen small flashes of what he can do. Same with Cunningham, he's a great forward whom I have on reserve right now. I've seen what he can do, the efficient numbers he's putting up on limited minutes, it awesome. I love it. As for Freeland...Like I said, I'm a true Blazers fan, so he's staying on the team for awhile. I would like to give him some playing time, but right now...it's not his time. Soon enough though, soon enough.

Re: Where Are They Now?
I'm only 2 months into the league but I think I can do an article like that as well, lots of player movement since I joined OKC
Nice article.. Very interesting to see that you picked up a relatively weaker roster and turned into a bright future.

Too early to say the kid is a bust.. Give him more time to see if he develops!

Re: Where Are They Now?
Yeah I do this as well, makes you think they shouldn't have been traded at times but I have no regrets.
Nice read, I think Mathews w DeRozan would be a nice duo for you right about now.

Wow - great read. Thanks for the mention. Interesting to see what happens with your traded players. Parker got traded again really fast which is sad but seems to be in a situation where he is a better fit. I'm really happy that I managed to sign Korver and Allen during the first sim. Veterans making a big impact for us

Haha just kidding. Though potentials all scouts are showing arent worth a Top Ten pick ^^.
Anyway shouldnt have traded Vucevic. Len will never be even close to him.

Thanks for the feedback guys. I thought this would be an interesting article.
As for Len, I don't think you can label him a bust, he's still young and needs time to develop.

Wasnt talking about his performance. Only his unbelievable bad 39% from the field (BIG TIME LOL) is bothering me.
But his potentials are looking like a Festus Ezeli with slitghly better DI/IQ/DREB since the last update
LOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOL, just found Dante !!!!!!! (okay only the euro guys will get this one)

Bayern's Dante? The one from the Brazilian national team?
Just an amazing guy.. He's from Salvador, the same city as me, had the opportunity to meet him once, he's a really cool guy, very humble, very funny also.
