What Is Philly Up To?

PHILADELPHIA – Thing have been awfully quiet in Philadelphia and, thus, the fan base is getting anxious. Long time Philadelphia Sixers fan Jim Reece had this to say, “What else is new? Big promises and hype avail to nothing. Is this signs of what to come? This guy has been quieter than the Willy Wonka during his three year hiatus.” Has the pressure of his first management gig gotten to the new GM of the Philadelphia 76ers?

Will the StOfTheStep surprise us all with a golden ticket caliber move after this “hermit” of a GM emerges from the board room?

Though insider sources say this work first, dedicated GM while getting used to the present age, media driven league, has his nose to the grind stone hard at work attempting to get a potential deal done. As previous speculation has alluded to, the Sixers were tinkering with the idea of moving superstar guard, Dwayne Wade, and strong, playmaking forward, Ersan Ilyasova. Though this is all strictly hear-say at this point, officials around the league have been hinted that the latter is being shopped aggressively at this moment. Ilyasova didn’t seem phased by all of the trade talk, “This league is a business first, I understand that. I’m here to give it all for the fans every night and, besides, you can’t believe everything that’s said.”

One can’t help but wonder if all of this trade talk surrounding him is affecting Ilyasova’s performance on the court.

Unfortunately, the poor Philadelphia fan base is still left in the dark throughout all of this gossip and uncertainty. This silence is inexcusable, even for a greenhorn GM. For a man who promised to be upfront and true to this dedicated city, he sure isn’t delivering. But I’m sure for as sympathetic as the “City of Brother of Love” is, they’ll give the new head a long leash. Ha yeah right, maybe when pigs fly.

Your team, with the right players, has what it takes to be successful. Surround Bynum and Wade with a 3pt shooter PG (with good defense and handles), a defensive minded SF (with good rebounds and capable of sinking 3 balls) and a stretch 4 PF and your team becomes very very dangerous. Even more considering that you already have your stretch 4 (though he was almost traded and I still think he'll be), just need to find a similar SF than Mbah a Moute (though with 3pt shooting) and a better defender at the point guard.

I don't think you need big changes but that's just my opinion, and I understand if you really want to move every one except for Bynum to start it all over again.

You have two very good building blocks (though Wade is on the older side) if you choose to just build around what you've got. It will be interesting to see what you do. Perhaps moving Wade for a bunch of younger pieces could help? Not sure, it'l be fun to see what you do with Philly and hopefully brign them into contention.
