I know, I know. I’m paying a huge price for Deron.
That said, I think he is the floor general George and Howard needs to flourish (worth saying he is the only real playmaker I was able to bring, so they seem to be very valuable). He can also score very well if needed. Singleton is also a nice addition to our roster. He provides solid rebounding / defense / stealing while being a low-usage player. I hope he can help spacing the floor while not taking too many shots away from our scorers.
That’s not the only move I’m going to make with the Clippers, though the other needs to wait because of TRs.
Also, it’s worth saying that I’m getting rid of two huge contracts (they were both good players, but payed top dollar and were not efficient on the offensive end). This will help maintain flexibility because we have our core under contract and Singleton is a RFA so we can match offers for him. That way, there’s no risk to hit Hard CAP, and we can even make a play for a FA with our MLE. I love to have flexibility, otherwise there’s no way to improve.
The biggest deal here is losing our 3rd big man. But we have an answer in Derrick Williams to that. Or we can bring a 3rd big with a trade. Heck, even Brewer can play PF with the right rotation.
Great dealing by rhoxxy, you’re a very good negotiator. Made me give up on lots of value to have the players I wanted. Nicely done.

Clippers agree.

We were thrilled with the idea of having Kemba next to Paul, which is more of an ideal pair imo. We also add firepower in the form of JR Smith while adding length and versatility at the SF/PF spot in Josh Smith.
