IS DDSPB THE BEST SIM GAME? Empty IS DDSPB THE BEST SIM GAME?

Post by dapralbe (ATL) Thu Jun 26, 2014 3:47 pm

Tomorrow i explain better with google translate. Gary gorki's game is fantastic but in csl league i think that have fails dylan or myle modific ratings FGJ, HDL AND STEAL IN THE FIRST SEASON.
WHY THE TEAMS WHO PLAY AGRESSIVE WITH ZONE DEFENSE CHANGES DON'T LOSE AT HOMe AND WIN ON THE ROAD MUCH GAMES?

FOR EXAMPLE DEFENSE INTENSITY 8-10 FULL COURT 8-10 PACE 7-10 REBOUND 8-10 ALTHOUGHT IS LESS IMPORTANT AND ZONE DEFENSIVE 8-10.
DON'T HAVE SENSE IN BASKETBALL PLAY ALL GAME WITH ZONE PRESS AND MORE AGRESSIVE MAKE CHANGE.
AT HOME THIS TEAMS DON'T HAVE FAULS OR FEW FAULS AND THIS RECORDS AT HOME 23-3 24-4 25-2, IN MY OPINION YOU PUT AGRESSIVE CHANGES WITH ZONE AND DON'T HAVE A GREAT TEAM, AND YOU HAVE A GOOD RESULTS. IS A FAIL THE GAME? CHANGING RATINGS SUCCES THIS??
I HAVE A PLAYER WITH +65 DRAWING FAULS AND ON THE ROAD THE HOME TEAMS WITH ALL 10 IN PHILOSOPHY DON' MAKE FAULS?

JESTOR PLEASE EXPLAIN BETTER ALL THIS.

The best example brooklin normally philosophy 11- 22, with very agressive philosophy and make changes with high zone 19-7. Increible!

Hmm interesting to see what our DDS comm managers can contribute here. I have played high zone because it reduces injury chance, slows down low post scorers and allows me to hide poor defenders. It worked well for us the last 2 seasons, perhaps more due to the reasons mentioned by dapralbe

The only other viable basketball simulation that I know of is Fast Break Basketball, which I have no experience with. So is DDS the best one out there? No clue.

I have both...

Fast Break is nice because you can go back and start in any year and have the actual draft class (for free) each year. Really don't care for the depth chart though in the game. Also the current ratings/potentials are kind of weird to me.

I prefer DDS with the exception of all the extra $$$ you have to spend if you want the "Official Draft Class" disks. Love the Depth Chart and putting who you want on the floor at what time during the game.

If you made me choose?

Right now there are only two viable options on the market - DDS and FBB.

They're both quality games, but both have different areas of emphasis. DDS is about deep, slow, intricate play and really focusing on your team and the players. FBB is about the skimming, quick, play and having a real bird's eye view of the league and its history as a whole.

I know what you want to say. In three seasons, I think the phylosophies (or player ratings) has drawn ever closer in the same direction, high zone-high full court-high crash boards...and the GMs are training "drive" mainly. The solution? I don't know but I think the Celtics of Dennis may change to another playing mode in future with shooters that they can break zones (or this type of phylosophy).
I remember that in other leagues that I have played, the champions won with different tactics (in NSL, OKC basing in defense + Durant and I don't remember what phylosophy had the winner of NAH) never putting "all tens".

I have PB3 and FBB and I can guarantee PB3 is by far the best one. I don't even play FBB.

PB3 there are much more tactical choices to be made, and also the fact that you can set not only your DC but the minutes you want to give for each player, and each rotation to be on the court... I mean, you have complete control of your team, while in FBB you can set 1st 2nd and 3rd teams and three or 4 tactical options.. And also in PB3 you can choose your offensive system, while in FBB you can't.

I mean, it's much more realistic, you feel like you're directing a franchise FOR REAL, specially when you're playing sim leagues like ours, talking to other people about trades, writing articles..

About those high everything tactics.. I think the problem with this league is that there are very few players who can knock down 3s and make defenses pay for left them open (aka playing zone).
If there were more shooters there would be less zone.

I mean, in my team, since we acquired Anderson, worked on PG's preferences to turn him into more of a shooter, we're starting to punish teams hard for zoning us, shooting 40-50% in most of our games on a nice volume of attempts. You can live in regular season with 10 everything, because you're facing different teams every day, even though you risk losing your players by injury, but.. In the playoffs, well, zoning some teams like POR, OKC, NYK (to name a few, there are more for sure), teams with real 3pt shooting ability.. You won't get past those team easily, because they can drain 15 3pointers every game you zone them hard. That's 45 points, and that's a lot to give up from the perimeter at the PO's.

I once played in a sim league (using PB2) and used 2 Zone, 3 FCP, 4 Off Pace, basically I was using everything but def boards at less then 5. I won the championship pretty easily. Of course from 2 to 3 lots of changes we're made but I don't think it means thaaaat much.

How to counter a 10 Pace, 10 Off Boards, 10 def boards, 10 zone, 10 FCP, 10 DI system? Be agreesive team, have good players with high Draw Foul ratings, space the floor.. Not easy, of course, but it can be done. Tweak your lineups (for those who can) to have 2 good shooters (at least) every time on the floor so you can have a real thread to score from long range.

I wouldn't call it very realistic basketball-wise when there have been times when teams have taken 40+ 3pt attempts during games against teams playing zone defense. I can recall a team attempting 57 3's in a game.

I don't think anything is perfect but I do thoroughly enjoy the experience especially considering I do not own either game.

I do feel if the creators make adjustments to zone D and its affectiveness or lack of affectiveness along with the parameters of other strategy settings it'll be even more of a fantastic experience than it already is.

I put for example if you modific the ratings for example low steal up HDL AND LOW FGJ, all is similar the pg can't steal, the discipline if is low the defense man to man is worts , because if you have 84 defense but 70 discipline without zone you are dead you post player make fauls in ten minutes, you put zone press all is more easy because you can force turnovers no steals and your players don't make fauls, is less important the stops respect man to man, and with low FGJ  , IF other team advance in traps o zone press (full court and zone with defense) you put in your field the zone, and if you don't have shooters in the league with high FGJ AND yours post mans can't offense good in a zone. All is more easy,
Put this philosophy and will win the games.

Is less real and in real basketball, you can't play all game with zone press and can win, only put in a moment of a game.
In real life with zone press you make a lot of fauls.
