Skip Bayless: Is Everyone Crazy?
Andrew Wiggins of Kansas, left, will go #1 overall
I'm sorry, but all this media recently, even the great Chad Ford, it's all crazy. Picking anyone but Andrew Wiggins first overall is just stupid. Oh, you need a franchise big to anchor your team? No, you're picking Andrew Wiggins. You're set at every position except for point guard? Nope, Andrew Wiggins. You're the Miami Heat and you already have Kevin Durant and a slew of other players at the SF position? Still take Wiggins and then figure it out later.
Six consecutive 30+ point games. And this is in conference play too, these outbursts weren't against Eastern Washington State or Middle Tennessee Tech. Texas, Kansas State, Oklahoma, Texas Tech, Oklahoma State and Iowa State, in that order, gave up 30+ points to Andrew Wiggins. Those are not pushovers (well Texas Tech notwithstanding). He's grabbed an average of 6+ boards during that stretch as well.
Let me put it very bluntly: Andrew Wiggins is as good of a scorer today, as anyone in this class will ever be. Shabazz Muhammad may be the only player who can give him a run for his money. Let me restate that: I would take Andrew Wiggins as he is right now over the peak of any player in this draft. That's how good Wiggins is. And that's not just on offense, he's a defensive monster too. He's so good on that end and so dedicated to getting better that he could have a career as a CSL player even if he was terrible offensively. This is a two-way monster that Canada has created, and I'm not sure the CSL is ready for it.
You pick Andrew Wiggins if you get the #1 overall pick, and then you figure out the rest later.
