Heat Acquire Rudy Gobert
Heat Acquire Rudy Gobert
June 22, 2014
Miami Heat team sources announced that they have acquired sophomore center Rudy Gobert from the Chicago Bulls for the 14th overall pick.
Gobert, the 7'2" center from France, was the 18th overall pick in last year's draft.
"We were very interested in him last year," Heat GM Parka said. "So we're glad to be able to attain him."
Sources say that the Heat tried continuously to trade into the first round last year, to no avail.
"Obviously we've been doing our due diligence in terms of scouting," head coach Mike Woodson said. "While there are a lot of talented guys in the draft, we like Gobert's skillset and feel he really fills a need for us."
The trade can't technically be done until after the draft due to salary and consecutive pick rules, meaning that the Heat will be picking for the Bulls come draft time.

Well I'd hope this means Pau won't be returning next year, otherwise you're sending a young guy into a log jam frontcourt.

Pau, Chandler, Hawes, Splitter, Wright, Jones III... Now Gobert.
Maybe a trade is involved?

Interesting move. He is super long and doesn't seem like the player that will use many offensive possessions while showing some defensive potential. Should fit right in.

Sweet move man, I really like how you motivate.
This is a smooth, subtle move that pays dividends in the long run since the bigs in this draft/ C spot is slim pickin's.

Re: Heat Acquire Rudy Gobert
Now I know why you wanted to Walk with this offer .
As far as I remember Gobert is really big, able to defend and Block shots and a decent rebounder? Am I right? No DDS near by.
For Chicago Ive to say if there isnt a great player involved I dont know if it was a great trade. They got no scouting informations at all and it seems this years draft isnt as deep as last years.. So dont know if they are able to find a great player that fits at #14.

I see some young Tyson Chandler project here?
I like this player, although he'll need to improve a lot to reach Tyson's level. But he remains me of him.

After seeing him in game, looks like a decent defender but poor rebounder. I guess though, being 7'2" gives him an advantage even being poor on the boards.

Yeah, I'd say Tyson Chandler lite is a fair comparison.

Maybe real-life Chandler without the rebounding. To me Gobert looks fairly limited, but is big and should be a good shotblocker. His scoring should be just okay, not a complete liability, but not expecting much else from him.
