Spurs Acquire 2 First Rounders

Spurs forward Amir Johnson was traded to the Atlanta Hawks, and in return the Spurs received shooting guard Jared Dudley, small forward Sasha Pavlovic, and two future first round draft picks, the Bobcats 2016 1st and the Pacers 2019 1st, both of which are unprotected.

"Jared really fits our style of play here in San Antonio. A tough defender who can shoot the ball, swing it around, get us good ball movement. That's the kind of player we are looking for," said head coach Gregg Popovich. "Him, Danny, Austin, Kevin, they will all work pretty well on the wing together since they all have those similar skill sets on offense."

Pavlovic is not expected to be a member of the active roster.

"Even if the deal was just Amir for Jared and Sasha, that's something we would have considered," said GM Myles Nelson. "As far as roster composition, it would have made sense because we didn't have any real small forwards. Getting the two first round picks was just sweetener, I think that's the real steal right there."

Yeah - you guys did very well here. Plus, it's possible that Amir would have gotten a pretty nice payday from someone and you remove that risk from your team with Dudley, who is on a very nice contract.
