Re: Trade Chatter
If Davis was a few years younger it would be a no brainer but even still the Spurs have a pretty potent frontcourt right now and a ton of cap flexibility this offseason (don't have to pay Kawhi). The team needed a shakeup so it makes a lot of sense.
SAC now has a strong perimeter with Lawson/Reke/Kawhi and still have Carson and 20M + in caproom IIRC, what a turn around.

Re: Trade Chatter
Pretty even trade for Spurs/Kings.
Ed Davis - Ekpe Udoh frontcourt is going to be ruthless.
Kawhi I was a fan of, despite his FG% but they might have done good by shipping out 2 poor shooters.
Whoever has the edge in the trade will likely come down to what MCW can provide for the Spurs.

I think the Kings got a steal. Really cheap for Lawson and Kawhi. Maybe that's just because I thought Ed Davis got overpaid this off-season in the first place.

LoL.
Can SOMEONE explain to me how teams are trading 2019 1sts ? A pick that is 5 years away, that doesn't even show in the game yet ? We have no rules against that ? Lol...some of these people won't even be here 5 seasons from now, this is ridiculous. I thought you could never trade a pick unless it showed in the game ?

You can trade a pick up to 5 years in advance, similar to the NBA.
Re: Trade Chatter
Pacers continue to try to add talent on top of talent (pot calling the kettle black, right?) to a .500 team that's struggling. Great trade value wise as Parker is, far and away, the best player in the trade. Don't know if it fixes anything though.
Spurs goin' full on rebuild mode, the Cats pick could be valuable with them struggling so far this season and them rebuilding as well.
I liked the Hawks team a lot more before the flurry of trades, to be honest. Thought Parker was more valuable than Amir, but I guess Amir is having a career year and the Hawks need a PF, so who knows.

I mean, I'm not sure I'd call it full rebuild since I don't have my own pick. But I'm getting a legitimate SF now as opposed to playing Green and Martin there full time and praying for the best. Now Dudley/Green will split the minutes at SF while Martin will get full time minutes at SG and Rivers will see SG/PG minutes (mostly SG).

Re: Trade Chatter
I like this move for the Spurs, they did not have any minutes for Amir..
Pacers get a better playmaker in Parker. Still, they're going to miss the 3pt shooting Jack brought, but it's surely an upgrade. But, just like the issues with my team, there's only one ball in the game for too many scorers. Maybe benching Kobe would help (if you can make him happy coming off the bench LOL)
But.. For Atlanta..
I'm not the best man to speak about not doing trades (I'm even thinking about dealing some of my newcomers, article coming soon about that), but.. You had a championship caliber team, and started very well early into the season (10-4 if I'm not wrong in the 1st month of competition). Why don't giving those guys a chance to play another month together?? I mean, my team was 3-7, I had things to do, I had to do some moves to improve my team.. But you were just fine.. I'm not saying you did a bad move, I'm just saying I'd give those guys a run together because you had a great start and no financial issues. Perfect situation IMO.

I'm not sure we have a rule against how far in advance you could trade a pick, though maybe that is something we should look at. Either way, I would be drooling at the thought of obtaining a 2019 first round pick from IND.

Maybe you're right, I think I've still got a pretty good team but time will tell.

Yeah that is quite the oddity.
When did that change in the CBA take place? It used to be 4 and I don't recall it being discussed (changing it, though I may be wrong which I have of course been before).

Re: Trade Chatter
Boston received a 2018 1st from Brooklyn in the KG+Pierce deal in real life. That deal occurred in the summer of 2013, a complete span of five years before the 2018 draft. Right now in this game we're 4.5 years from the 2019 draft. I don't see what the problem is.
Also around the same time, Sacramento and Milwaukee swapped 2019 2nd rounders, which was a full 6 years in the future

That's irrelevant and not completely reflective of the CSL which in fairness is moving towards emulating the NBA more but there's been occasions when trades were denied here when teams tried to trade picks more than 4yrs in advance.
I know I cannot be the only GM to strictly remember this.
Unless there has been a change in the CBA (which has already been changed with no mention of this matter though I recall one on the old CBA) then I don't see how this made it to the acceptance stage by a Co-Commissioner which he should be well versed in because he's been involved in the past in denying such trades.
Also as far as the trade that 2019 Pick is adding even more to an overpay as it is anyway imo.

A 2019 1st has been traded already, which sets precedent I'd think. 2018 1st's were moved last season as well. Moving forward if a cap of x amount of years is implemented cool, but as of now there is no such rule.

2018 is blank as they would be eligible to be moved this season and yeah how in the world did that MIL '19 slip thru the cracks in I'm guessing the Marc Gasol trade?
Clearly remember picks only being 4yrs in advance and though I wasn't affected by this I clearly remember some trade(s) getting revoked so apparently it has been abolished without warning so yeah I agree with BI, the precedent has been set.
Still think it's an overpay for Parker but it just may win them a title and ya gotta do what you gotta do if you think LBJ may leave town.

For those in the NLL, this trade has the Knicks trade for Kevin Love writ all over it.

Re: Trade Chatter
@Willy: I very clearly remember it being 5 years in advance. That was always my understanding and if we don't have it in writing somewhere, then we should have it in writing somewhere. I don't ever recall anyone denying a trade simply because a trade was 5 years in advance or sooner than that. We may have had trades denied because they didn't meet other draft pick requirements, but I don't remember any trades being denied due to a 5 year rule.

Almost the exact trade I saw in my head when I was offered two 1sts for Amir Johnson.

New York Knicks traded 4 first round picks for Kevin Love (They had a huge stash of them).
Long story short, the franchise has never recovered from that deal, even despite playing in arguably the league's weakest division, as it's been years since they've made the playoffs.

I see why we are at the bottom in the NLL. Will need time to get the Knicks back to the playoffs in the NLL as it seems.

Re: Trade Chatter
Love the trade for the Spurs. Who would have thought Amir Johnson could haul that much of a return.
I get it for the Pacers I guess, but they are still a far ways away from being a top team in the East. Too many parts just thrown together that don't mesh well.
The Hawks will make several more moves to get their roster so its always hard to judge their trades.
