Round 2 - Pick 47 - Detroit Pistons
With the 48th overall pick in the CSL Draft, the Detroit Pistons select...
Point Guard, Elfrid Payton, out of the University of Louisianna-Lafayette.
Coming into this off-season, point guard was the biggest area of improvement needed for the Pistons. They feel they have positions 2-5 locked down, but need to find someone to succeed incumbent Jameer Nelson who played admirably throughout the year and stepped into the starting role once Trey Burke was shipped out to land Melo. After doing some scouting, the Pistons found a player that they thought would be a good player to take a flyer on later in the 1st round or early second if they could acquire a pick. Luckily, they didn't need to do any of that as the player they were targetting fell all the way down to the 48th pick right into their laps.
GM emplep had this to say about the situation, "We were on the phones trying to acquire one of the picks early in the second for our pick and a future second and had an offer on the table to acquire a solid young player form last years draft to move the pick, but with Elf still on the board there was nothing that was going to convince me otherwise. We think he has the ability to start down the line and should be good on both ends of the floor. We were ecstatic that he lasted this long and I'm hoping that our scouts didn't pull the wool over our eyes on this one."
This is technically the first and only pick the Pistons have in this draft, however, there is an agreed trade that netted them another young player in Perry Ellis that needs to be slightly adjusted to go through so Elf should be joining another fellow rookie sometime soon.

yeah, thats true. Got a lot of time next season, maybe I could run a rookie league. No idea if its possible, but would be cool if something like myles Pre-Draft tournament would be done the whole season.
if something like this is possible just shoot a message. I would do it:D

Don't know anything about this guy either.
Chicago is on the clock. We've got 10 picks left, it'd be great if we could get them all done today.

I know this guy got a hype article so I thought about him at 44, but considering I already drafted a PG in Kendall at 10 and Leo at 34, didn't want to triple down.

I actually did 1 scout on him and when I saw his handles, I had to pass. Same thought though as he had been in an article, I wanted to give him a look.
