2014 CSL Awards Prediction
It's that time of the year again, where we pick the guys who deserve recognition for what they've done over the past sim year.
Here are some predictions!
MVP: LeBron James (OKC)
This was a tough choice for me, but ultimately, I feel like LeBron had the best overall season and showed that he was the best player in the league. He also led a top team in the West when he was healthy, and no other team relied on their superstar as much. He only played 50 games, which should put him out of the running really, but his next competitor (Kevin Durant IMO) only played 55, so it's moot.
DPOY: Chris Paul (LAC)
CP3 once again led the league in steals and anchored one of the best defenses in the CSL. A guy like Serge Ibaka makes a ton of sense as well, but I gotta go with my gut in CP3 by a little bit. It's very close and an argument could be made for either player.
6MOY: Eric Gordon (NOP)
I'm not sure anyone else comes close. The dude led his team (by a significant margin) in scoring while coming off the bench, not sure if that's ever been done before.
ROY: Marcus Smart (NOP)
Ultimately, I feel like he had the best year. A lot of guys had good years, but Smart delivered the best all-around performance and production per-minute. He's going to be a monster in this league.
COY: Mike Woodson (MIA)
Kinda strange to give it to our team, but best record in the league with Durant missing 26 games seems like the right choice.
All-CSL 1st Team: Chris Paul / James Harden / Kevin Durant / LeBron James / Dwight Howard
I feel like this rounds out very nicely into the top 5 players in the league, basically.
All-CSL 2nd Team: Damian Lillard / Dwyane Wade / Carmelo Anthony / Derrick Favors / Andrew Bynum
This was pretty easy as well.
All-CSL 3rd Team: Stephen Curry / Kyrie Irving / Kevin Love / Blake Griffin / Serge Ibaka
Same. A couple of positions can be argued, but I feel like it's a good representation.
All-Rookie 1st Team: Marcus Smart / Ben McLeMore / Otto Porter / Trey Burke / Giannis Adetokunbo
I won't bother with the second team...
All-Defense Team: Chris Paul / Dwyane Wade / Andre Iguodala / Serge Ibaka / Dwight Howard
This one's difficult to really say, considering there are so many factors.

Pretty hard to argue any of these, but would have loved to see MKG crack the All-D team - could anyone post his D stats for me here? Much appreciated!

Re: 2014 CSL Awards Prediction
Glad you made this thread, was wondering what was up with these awards.
You mention only played 50 games for LeBron which should take him out of the MVP running while Durant only played 55 which inferred you feel similar about him as well which leaves only one man standing as the MVP, James Harden.
Also believe Kyrie should be 2nd team over Lillard at the PG spot even though he started at SG in Cleveland he did play some minutes at PG.
Pretty much spot on with everything else.

This is largely spot-on. Hoping for KA to leapfrog those rookie first teamers, sans Smart, to become one of the league's best sophomores next season.

Well, I'm going to have to just agree with these since I wasn't here for the entire season...Maybe add Tony Parker to the MVP race and the All CSL 1st team...then we can talk a little.

Re: 2014 CSL Awards Prediction
I had been pushing for Gordon and Smart to win their respective awards all season long so I'm glad they both got some love here. Hoping Anthony Davis makes a leap forward again next year to be on an All-CSL team.
MVP is tough because of the games played factor. I think I would still vote Durant just because of the monster year he had.

I go KD for MVP. Everything else seems pretty good though otherwise.

Re: 2014 CSL Awards Prediction
Neither Lebron or KD played that many games, but both when they did play were ridiculous. I just personally think Lebron was even more ridiculous.

Harden had a good year for sure, but I don't think you can win MVP leading your team to just a top 4 seed. It's a regulat season award after all.

Safe to say all of the Point Guards will be bumped down a team next season with the healthy return of Westbrook.

He must continue the Lakers tradition by leading the league in "Kobe assists".

I predict a 45/15 game by WB against the Heat at some point next season.

Re: 2014 CSL Awards Prediction
Agree with all but the 2nd guard spot for all-defense. Jrue should get that over Wade, and Bledsoe isn't far behind him.
I think it's guard/guard/forward/forward/center in which case you don't need a pure SG. Could be wrong though.

That's just GM WillyJakkz (and Greg Anthony) taking up for his guy.
Realistically or speaking as Dennis Scott (lol) I gotta go with LeBron James over KD who is a very close 2nd.
Also yeah WB should come back wit a vengeance especially with Horford on board.
