Nuggets Renounce Dirk and Ray Allen
It is tough to renounce two players who were integral to the Nuggets the past couple seasons.
Dirk was the MVP for the Nuggets team two years ago since he was acquired from the Mavs.
He was the perfect stretch four to pair with Cousins.
Unfortunately, Cousins went down with injuries and Dirk/Hickson/JT wasn't enough to advance the Nuggets in the playoff
Dirk always have value, he was the key component to the Dirk/Ibaka trade that was vetoed due to lack of explanation from the previous Lakers GM.
Nuggets GM received alot of heat for trading the young Kudos for the 3-pt veteran.
In hindsight, Nuggets probably could've asked for more.
But at the end, Ray Allen was a consistent three point bomb that draws the defender away.
I guess, it is a sign of the end of an era.
Both will be missed.
Unless, they want to return back a market value

Re: Nuggets Renounce Dirk and Ray Allen
If you wanted to try to bring them back t market value, I don't think renouncing their rights was a smart move. You now cannot exceed the salary cap in order to sign them. Now I have no idea what their cap holds looked like but I'm assuming that they were large enough to keep you from pursuing other free agents which would then make sense for you to renounce them.

Sad we wont have the situation to try to get Dirk.. Would have loved to let Dirk play next to Schröder. Where ever he ends up playing next season, I hope it will be a conteder.
Maybe Dallas should throw in their MLE. Would be epic to see him wearing the Blue again.
go go BNRT (damn your name is way to long) bring Dirk home.

We definitely have the means to get Dirk, but we have more pressing needs than a backup PF. And Dirk is getting up there in age nowadays...

If I'm not mistaken, the team has no cap space anyway, so I don't see the point in renouncing the two...

I'm glad you let them walk as a contending team and GM but also as a GM I have no idea why in the world you would do something like this.
You had a serious threat as a team and Cousins going down for the year was the issue, not Dirk or Ray or their age as they complimented your guys very well
Gonna be hard pressed finding better guys in FA for your squad but I'm sure you have a plan.

Contenders will be going hard at both these players come free agency.

Yeah you are probably going to want to rethink this. You have no cap space after renouncing them, which means you can only sign players with the MLE/LLE. If you keep them unrenounced, you can still use your MLE/LLE, and sign Dirk/Ray to deals better than just the min-sal.

Re: Nuggets Renounce Dirk and Ray Allen
My biggest reasoning is because my current cap is over 100 mil (107.2 mil). I don't want to face any penalty for being over.
Hey Myles/Dylan/OP, is there any consequence/punishment for me keeping Dirk and Ray Allen (they combine for 30+ mil of cap hold)?

Nope. Cap holds don't count towards the hard cap.

If this does really go through, you can bet your behind I will be going for Dirk with my MLE. He would be just the player I would love to have, would start and play next to some great players.
For a name though, you can call me Tanner.

Re: Nuggets Renounce Dirk and Ray Allen
Yeah, doesn't make much sense to renounce them. No penalties or anything will be enforced for cap holds, so if you're at all interested in bringing them back, no reason to renounce.
Re: Nuggets Renounce Dirk and Ray Allen
He renounced them, it's done. He messed up, not our problem at all! Give me DIRK!!
Nah, if it's a misunderstanding on his part and he doesn't want to renounce them, I'd be okay with him not renouncing.

With Cousins healthy, Dirk will have a lot less attention on him. Might make sense to bring him back and shore up the perimeter.

Contract decisions haven't been set in stone yet. Any GM can change their minds about anything until we close and process it sometime in the next 24 hours.
