JR Smith: The face of the Kings?
JR Smith Ready for the challenge
It's no secret over there in Sacramento. The team just isn't very good, and everyone knows it. The fans know it, the team knows it, the coaches know it, even the players know it. But it won't stop them from working hard and trying to win games. Shooting guard JR Smith made that clear, when he spoke to reporters in a conference call about the upcoming season and the obstacles ahead.
JR Smith wrote:You guys can say whatever you want, I'm telling y'all we don't listen. Talk all the bulls**t you want and it don't affect us. We're here to play basketball, to be a team, to work hard and win games. That's what we're going to do, and we'll go through an obstacle to do so.
When Smith was asked about being one of the leaders and taking on a primary role this season, he responded:
JR Smith wrote:I'm ready man, I'm so ready. I know everyone thinks I'm some thug who is a head case everywhere I go, but you guys don't know me. I'm ready to take on the challenge and be a leader that this team needs. I'm excited to have a big role in the offense and I'm confident in myself and in my game. My goal is to score at least 20 points a night and help this team win some ball games, because in the end that's what I'm here to do.
Smith when asked about what he thinks of recently drafted rookies Jahii Carson and Dario Saric said:
JR Smith wrote:I reached out to both rooks a couple days after they got drafted, just to welcome them to the team and all that, and I got to know them a little. They're both real dude's and I'm excited to get to work with them. I think JC is gonna do some good things in this league and there's a reason he was drafted in the top 6, I think he'll be real good for us. And I'm excited to see what Dario can bring to the table, I think he's got potential to be real good.
When asked if he considered himself the "face of the franchise," Smith said:
JR Smith wrote:Yeah I think so, but it doesn't really matter to me what they call me. I know I'm a big part of the squad and I know I'm gonna get the opportunity to do my thing and contribute, that's all I want. I want to score points, do whatever else my team needs me to do, and win some basketball games.
Re: JR Smith: The face of the Kings?
If JR is the face of the franchise I'd hate to see the body lol.
I think the Kings'll be an up and comer in 2-3yrs time if they stand pat and develop guys along with them acquiring a FA in that time frame but much like the Grizzlies I don't see a franchise player quite yet.
I see guys who can compliment one though but until Joel Embiid lands in Sacto and barring any trades, JR Smith it is.
Btw you got your work cut out for you there buddy but good luck and stay focused, I'm sure you'll turn it around.

The Kings are lucky to have you at the helm to turn this franchise around. Some good young pieces on the roster to build around but a Joel Embiid would definitely look good in a Kings jersey.

How many shot attempts will JR Smith average on this team?

Hopefully at least 20. He's really the only one I have that's capable of taking over a game with his scoring.
I really view him, Carson and Ed Davis as capable players.

Great player with great talent, but nothing iq.
If in training camp work different aspects of game.
He will make a great season. (Will see videos of discipline and iq).

I guess Carson will definitely gets some good looks, but Smith should put up 20+ easily without anyone else really taking shots on that squad.

This season is probably gonna be pretty ugly for you guys with JR running the show.
You really need to find that franchise player for you to build around, because I'm not sure Saric or Jahii are it, and you traded away Horford.
Good luck man, but it's probably a long road to get to the playoffs in the West with this team.

All jokes aside, I think Smith can be decent.
Remember, he was a pretty decent first option with the Knicks. It's what landed him his current contract.

Yep, he was our leading scorer the first season with 21ppg, shooting 44.8% from the field and 41.3% from 3PT.
The only concern I had was his defense
Tried to get him on a MLE offer, but decided to head to Sactown to earn $2.5mil more per year.

There's no doubting his ability to score, but he brings little else besides that. I definitely see him pushing for 20ppg this season.

Team is a mess, I give you respect for building up Utah and then switching to this garbage heap. Not a matter of if they get better, just when. Without your 1st this season and Carson not being the stud many projected him to be it's a long road but there isn't a better GM for the job.

No love for Austin Rivers? Looking at his potentials it seems he's a great addition for your team, really love his skillset.
