Stephen A. Smith's Mock Draft
First of all, I want to start by apologizing for my colleague Chad Ford. I cannot believe that that man would mislead you guys so poorly. Now I know my boy Chad did not do it on purpose, but he does not know this crop of college players, clearly, so I'm gonna help y'all out with this. I don't normally do these, but I felt that we had done a disservice to the public, and someone needed to correct it.
1. Andrew Wiggins - Kansas
Great athleticism and skills will be there. Going to be a top 5 player.
2. Julius Randle - Kentucky
Absolute beast down low and has the speed to attack from the perimeter too.
3. Andrew Harrison - Kentucky
Combo guard in the Marcus Smart/Derrick Rose mold, but he's 6'5" too.
4. Shabazz Muhammad - UCLA
Best pure scorer in this draft, period. He's shown a lot of improvement.
5. Anthony Bennett - UNLV
Most versatile scorer out there. No one has his combination of perimeter and post skills.
6. Alex Len - Maryland
Most dominating big man, very old school. Great post game and great fundamentals.
7. Jahii Carson - Arizona State
Dynamite offensive player, great creator, very quick.
8. Perry Ellis - Kansas
Very athletic forward, can hit jumpers and can drive to the basket.
9. Przemek Karnowski - Gonzaga
Skilled big man, not much in terms of athletic tools but uses his size well.
10. Willie Cauley - Kentucky
Very solid defensive-minded big man. A bit unrefined but he'll be good with time.
11. Dario Saric - Croatia
Reminds me a lot of prime Lamar Odom. Saric is a great versatile forward/wing.
12. Adreian Payne - Michigan State
Absolute workhorse down low. Imagine if Reggie Evans had a post game. That's this guy.
13. Archie Goodwin - Kentucky
Relentless attacker, solid facilitator, and his jumpshot is improving.
14. Alec Brown - Wisconsin Green-Bay
Might be too skinny, but he's got a lot of skills. No big man in the CSL has his combination of skills, period. Defines jack-of-all-trades.
15. Gary Harris - Michigan State
Got potential to be a 20 point scorer, has a well-rounded attack.
16. Glenn Robinson - Michigan
Reminds me a lot of Carmelo, uses his size to create shots and hits jumpers with ease.
17. Rasheed Sulaimon - Duke
Coach on the court, floor general supreme, and can hit open shots as well. Coach K has instilled a lot in him.
18. Sean Kilpatrick - Cincinnati
Athletic guard who has a high motor. Good two-way player.
19. Lorenzo Brown - North Carolina State
Attacking guard with good skills and an athletic mindset.
20. Alex Abrines - Spain
Best pure scorer not from America. Kid is going to be a boss.
21. Spencer Dinwiddie - Colorado
Could be a point guard, but more likely will fill the 6th man scorer role.
22. Artem Klimenko - Russia
Hard working big man, and he's from Russia so you know he'll be tough.
23. LaQuinton Ross - Ohio State
Skilled forward, a good shooter and a good team player.
24. Jordan Adams - UCLA
Spot up shooter, don't leave him open for a second.
25. Wang Zhelin - China
Lack of athleticism and dependable moves may hurt him, but he's an accurate shooter and with size.
26. DeAndre Daniels - Connecticut
Has got by on athleticism thus far, but he's starting to show some skills and perhaps could be an impact player with coaching.
27. Joel James - North Carolina
He'll need some work, but he has potential to be a solid rotational big.
28. Vasilije Micic - Serbia
He's shown a diversified game in Europe, and if he can bring over the mix of offensive scoring and running the point, he'd make a good backup PG.
29. Fuquan Edwin - Seton Hall
Has really stepped up and taken over the scoring for Seton Hall, has shown a good jumper and good mid range game. Solid player.
30. A.J. Hammons - Purdue
Along the same lines of Joel James, but Hammons has a bit more of a refined post game.
