Lowry back with 4y/35M deal
LOWRY HEADING BACK TO OKC FOLLOWING MULTI-YEAR DEAL
Lowry scoring over the Bucks' defense: He's back with the Thunder following 4years/35.6M agreement.
It's official: After 3 days of apprehension, the Oklahoma City Thunder front office announced that team has re-signed free agent Kyle Lowry to a 4 year deal worth 35.6M.
"We're so Happy that Kyle has agreed to stay with us. That means we were able to reach our first goal of the Offseason, that was to resign one of the most important players to our team last season. Now we're able to concentrate on getting better and adding some depth to this squad. We have only one goal and we're working hard to accomplish it", Thunder GM Marcos Beck said in his press conference.
Kyle Lowry, a 28yo PG with 8 years of CSL experience, had a though shooting season, shooting almost 42% from the field and 35% from three point range. Still, he found ways to help the team, averaging a team high 6,4 APG, having a great 3:1 A/TO ratio and playing some good defense. Still, everyone knows Kyle needs to improve if the Thunder want to beat the two-time defending champions Miami Heat.
"Yeah, definitely. He's got to improve his shooting efficiency. But he's found a way to contribute a lot even when his shot was not falling. Me and Phil (Jackson, OKC's Head Coach) have been talking constantly about signings and new systems for our offense and defense, and Kyle fit's so well in our ideas. He's going to be paid well, but he deserves all he'll be earning, and we're pretty confident he'll play up to his contract", Added Mr. Beck.
Now, the OKC Thunder's roster stands at 9 players, with the team reportedly looking to sign a PF and adding some depth inside.

Re: Lowry back with 4y/35M deal
Like I said in the other thread, steal.
Kyle Lowry had 16 PPG, 6.4 APG, and 2.1 TOPG.
Isaiah Thomas had 16.3 PPG, 7.0 APG, and 1.6 TOPG.
They produced almost identically, yet Thomas got 12 m/year and Lowry got ~9m/year.
Definitely thought he would have gotten more. Great pickup at that price for you.

Definitely a good deal for the Thunder who really needed to bring Lowry back in the fold.

Lowry - 41%/35.2% - 36.8 MPG
Thomas - 50.3%/40.4% - 33.6 MPG
From an efficiency standpoint, IT is far superior, and it's not even close. Worlds better shooter, better A/TO ratio. I'm frankly shocked Lowry got as much money as he did. I rated him as an MLE-level player.

Re: Lowry back with 4y/35M deal
Lowry is going to improve under my system, you can bet on it..
I had no other option because if I let Kyle walk I'd not have CAP space to steal another PG as good as him from other teams. Still, I think I did well with that signing, I believe it was for the right price. I was expecting to pay a little bit more, maybe even 8 figure, but that was fair market value. I think Thomas got vastly overpaid, but that's just my opinion. And I understand, as Miami, like me, had no other option but re-sign him at any price.

Looking at the efficiency Tim is absolutely right, on top you just need to compare the stop rates and PA/SF, IT is way better compared to KL.
But I still believe its a decent contract for OKC and Lowry. I believe the team will look better if the new GM is pretty active and uses his matrix/10 instuctions right.
BTW: absolutely no overpay by Miami for Thomas - 50.3%/40.4% - 33.6 MPG, 91%STP (Facing 39 drives/game while stopping ~36 dafuq:D, 3,6TOFC, 0.8PA/SF.. come on, if he doesnt deserve 12m/year, who does?

Good deal. Was going after him as my primary target but didn't have as much to offer.

Certainly Thomas is more efficient, but few players are as efficient as he is. 50%/40%? That's ridiculously efficient.
Lowry's 41% from the field needs some work, but 35% from 3 is nothing to scoff at.

Really like Lowry, good signing. If I hadn't acquired Teague, I probably would have made a push for him.

Now this is the type of deal that IT should've gotten. Ugh.

IT played better than Lowry last year.
Still, with better coaching, Lowry could really develop into a better and more effective player. He could end up outplaying IT (at least I hope so haha)

Good signing, Lowry is a solid defender and his assist numbers are down a bit because Jack is a combo guard and Lebron is high usage. I like it.

I believe in you. His roster, while lacking some pieces and lacking depth, had LeBron and Howard, so he must have done a great work here.
Still, I count on Lowry to outplay Thomas and I'll try to do everything to maximize his talents.
But, first, if I want the title, I need to shape up my roster. Bench production is key to win championships, and at the moment we lack some bench.
I'm pretty confident I can find some rotation guys for my MLE and the minimum. Hope someone, preferably veterans, know the advantages of playing with Bron and Howard, and is chasing a ring.

Re: Lowry back with 4y/35M deal
Good to see you were able to retain your player and look forward to competing against you as our franchise's have split the Playoff series 1-1 with the winner going to the CSL Finals.
Gonna be interesting to see what moves you make as I built my Rockets to be able to better compete against the Thunder and kgdobby who did a great job with that team so I look forward to seeing where you take them.
