Heat Sign Rush, Say Goodbye To Gasol
July 16, 2014
"We're excited to add a guy like Rush," Heat GM Parka said. "He's a great fit for us in a lot of ways, and we think he's going to be a great contributor for us."
Rush averaged 8.8 points and 2.4 rebounds last season, also shooting 45.6% from distance. The 28-year-old journeyman is also the reigning 3-point shootout champion and will most likely back-up Kevin Durant at SF.
"He's a great shooter and defender," head coach Mike Woodson said. "We love his dynamic fit next to a guy like Monta Ellis off the bench."
The day was also met with sad news, however, as it was announced that Pau Gasol would be leaving the team, heading to the Los Angeles Lakers for a much more lucrative deal.
"We just wanna thank Pau," Parka said. "He's been a big part of this team, and nothing but a consummate professional the entire time that he was here. The entire organization wishes him nothing but the best going back to LA."
The team reportedly dropped out of negotiations quite early, especially with concerns over extensions for Iman Shumpert and Perry Jones III looming.
"I loved my time in Miami, won two rings," Gasol said. "Thank you to the Miami Heat for the last two years, they have been great. It's time to see where else my career can go."

You were in a "rush" to sign Brandon and it paid off. Kudos.

Rush will be a good signing as I said in the agency's thread. Easiest offensive job in the league: stand in the corner and jack up threes playing off of Durant and Ellis lol.
