Timberwolves Sign Nick Young, Done with Free Agency
With their 4th signing of this free agency period, the Timberwolves have officially bowed out of free agency. They brought in Nick Young on a 2 year deal with a team option for the 2nd year. Swaggy P will be playing backup wing minutes alongside Jamaal Franklin and Danny Granger.
Nick Young, who played 19 minutes per game last season in Philadelphia, averaged 8 points per game, 2 rebounds per game, and 1 assist per game, on 40% shooting from the field and 39% from deep. He missed only one game last season and did an admiral job at backing up All-Star Dwyane Wade, and the Wolves will expect the same thing when he backs up Rookie 1st team player Ben McLemore.
The Wolves did plan on signing a 3rd point guard to their roster, but they were unable to land any of their targets. They had placed an offer for CJ Watson, who declined to head to Los Angeles, and before Jake could send an offer to Pablo Prigioni or Steve Blake, they were both signed. Gary Neal will now be the sole backup point guard for the Wolves. He got next to no playing time in Boston last year, and as a result, was only able to average 4 point per game and 2 assists per game, but he has the ability (and the ratings) to do so much more.
It seems Jake has achieved his goal of creating a 10-deep team in free agency.

Not a big fan of Young but, i suppose he is a decent addition as a 3rd sg/sf... looking forward to competing against your team this season ;-)

As a situational shooter this isn't a bad signing. Just have to limit his attempts is all. Good depth.
