CSL Tonite! Atlantic Division Preview
Hi! I'm Mindy Mindy and welcome to CSL Tonite! Today we have Steve Smith, Dennis Scott, and Greg Anthony in studio and they're gonna discuss the Eastern Conference's Atlantic Division and give you their thoughts on who they feel will win the Division crown!
Guys, the floor is yours...
Well Mindy, I'm gonna get things started... when you think about the Atlantic Division the first team that comes to mind is the New York Knicks! Year in and year out they get overlooked and somehow they find a way to get it done and that's a testament to the GM and coaching as well as the players, they buy into a system and it works and now they go from a guy in Jeremy Lin who was perfect for that system and Chandler Parsons as well and they trade em for a guy in Ricky Rubio who is the ultimate system player. Do they lose alot? Yes but they also gain a guy who's less dependent on scoring and more dependent on facilitating and I think with a guy like a Courtney Lee to go along with a Chris Bosh and a JaVale McGee and Chase Budinger, if they can get them goin' then I see no reason for them not to win the Division again.
I agree with you Smitty but I think they lost alot in Lin and Parsons I mean, moving those guys they essentially moved 30 some almost 40 points a game, not to mention the defense and leadership but I can't make an argument for another team.
Well I can, the argument is there's a guy in Philadelphia who if he remains healthy, and I'm talkin' about Dwyane Wade, there is no way the Knicks minus a Jeremy Lin and a Chandler Parsons can compete against that Sixer team, remember, had Wade not broken his wrist that Sixers team was in control of that division.
I don't agree with that Greg, they were goin' back and forth all season long with the Knicks for the crown and New York dealt with some injuries of their own all season.
Don't forget about Brook Lopez of the Nets going down just 26 games into the season last year.
Yep... that's another team that dealt with injuries, the Nets. They could be dangerous, too.
So can a dog but if you keep it on a leash it won't be able to be dangerous unless you get close enough to it and the fact remains that despite injuries cause listen guys, every team deals with injuries so that isn't a viable excuse. I'm going with Philly despite the lack of leadership up there and I think they win the division.
Another team to watch out for might be the Toronto Raptors, I mean I don't see them winning the Atlantic Division but they may make some noise, they got Big Al Jefferson, they brought Pierce back and if that kid Oladipo can develop some more they could make things really hard on those teams.
Well I'm not giving them no shot Dennis, not at all. Them, the Celtics who drafted the big fella Alex Len to go along with the German kid...
Schröder.
Yeah Dennis Schröder, they're still a ways away from truly contending and you know guys like Kevin Garnett and Gerald Wallace will have those guys competing but at the end of the day I just don't see any team beating the Knicks so I'm gonna stick with my pick. I'm goin' Knicks.
Sixers, by at least 7 games. They win the division comfortably.
I'm stickin' with the Knicks, I agree with Smitty.
If I had to pick I think I'd go with the Sixers, I think Greg is right and think Wade and Bynum fight for a Playoff spot and a shot at the Eastern Conference Finals as well.
Well guys thanks for the discussion and banter. That'll do it for this edition of CSL Tonite! Let us hear your opinion and thanks for watching!

If the Sixers had a GM, I think they could win the division by a landslide. But since they don't, I think the leadership and abilities of Jamal put NY atop the Atlantic. Brooklyn 3rd, Toronto 4th, and Boston last.

Knicks all the way in Atlantic. Followed by Brooklyn, Toronto, Philly and Boston. As Jake said Philly are good but no GM means no wins for them. Boston are too young to contend although Dennis is a very capable GM so may surprise

Re: CSL Tonite! Atlantic Division Preview
The Sixers lost a Key player on FA and because of no management could not bring anyone over to help.
Heck, if only they had a GM, of course he would not let Deng walk for that ridiculously low price, and I'd bet on them to win.
As they didn't improve from last year and have no one to take care of them, I think the Knicks will win..
1- NYK 2- BRO 3- PHI 4- TOR 5- BOS
Still, I'd not bet a single penny on my own predictions. Knicks lost too much by trading for Rubio, so Atlantic Division's crown is up for takers

Re: CSL Tonite! Atlantic Division Preview
I can't see the video Willy, it says it's private to me
Don't know if I'm the only one with this problem..
It was great receiving all this support from Steve Smith specially and also from Dennis Scott
Personally I prefer being the underdog as we were last season. Love the pressure on the court, but it's hard when you're up high as a GM. Anyway Ricky always tells me he loves the pressure to, that it fuels him and makes him play better, so I guess it's OK being a favourite for the Atlantic then
Personally I think there's some talented teams in the Atlantic. I do think that apart from the Celtics (they'll kick our asses in 2 years, so we've better try fighting until their time arrives ), the rest of the teams have the talent to lead the division.
I wouldn't count off the Raptors too. They played great last year to finish the season, and although they lose some pieced they still got Pierce and Al Jef on board, so I wouldn't count them off, even if the lost Bogut.
I agree that Philly's got maybe the best two players on paper in D-Wade and Bynum. They didn't play that well under their last years GM though, prove that the strat/rotation is important even if you've got the players. And then injuries and not having a GM ended hurting them even more.
So we've better watch out, a roster with those two is always dangerous.
And as I already mentioned Nets can also be there. Rondo + Brook is just an elite combo, and could make some noise if they're managed well.
So summing up I think that injuries and making the best out of our players in terms of rotation/strat will make the difference in the Atlantic. So we just need to pray for the first one, and work hard to make our team work together as an unit!
Nice read as always Willy!! Appreciate the division analysis

Thanks Willy, great read. 3rd in the Atlantic, it isn't bad result, if we are in playoffs. The division most equalizer (and worst? ) of the CSL IMO.
Where does Rondo go ? Good movement in the post of Boozer, as usual during the season.

great pass by Rubio and some good post work by Boozer. Don't know why but the music reminded me of German porn from the 90's

Yeah I know! I jumped up when Rubio dished it but was disappointed JaVale didn't slam it.
I just sim cpu vs cpu with the CSL teams and let nature take its course lol, I don't try to dunk or do anything specific for one player or team, it's all the cpu although sometimes it just does basic things, sometimes it does amazing things.

Don't worry, I was blaming McGee himself, not you

Re: CSL Tonite! Atlantic Division Preview
Gotta love seeing guys in the jerseys.
Our division should change this season you would think. We took advantage of the injuries to Philly and Brooklyn last season and were right up there with New York until we just fell off at the end but with those teams healthy and our changes, I'm really unsure how we'll go.
Be good fun though.

Re: CSL Tonite! Atlantic Division Preview
I think the Knicks win this by default due to no GM for the Sixers. If they get a GM in time to save most of the season though I think its going to be a fight.

Philly now with a GM should make things more interesting in this division.
