It's so tough to say goodbye to Ty who's one of the league's best defensive PG and PG overall, but we love what we get in this deal. Lowry is a rock solid PG who does a bit of everything and has a good contract, Amir is one of our favorite PF in the CSL who can be either a rock solid starting PF or a great 3rd big if we are to sign a big name this off-season. Amir's expiring and Lowry's smaller deal gives us tons of flexibility this off-season to do whatever we want, whether it offer someone a max deal or whatever else. Adding Marshon Brooks who can be a solid backup SG and the '17 first rounder just gives us more assets to play around with.

We welcome Lawson back to Atlanta, Cousins seems to be enjoying his second stint with the Hawks so hopefully Lawson does too. Lowry is solid and spread the floor nicely for our bigs but our backcourt has been lacking in production and our ball movement isn't where I want it to be. Lawson is only 26 but we feel he can be a championship level point guard for us this season.

On the other end Lawson is a lockdown defender who is top 10 in STP% in the whole league which fits our philosophy. He is averaging 18/3/7 w/ 1.4 stls but his %'s are low due to being the 2nd option in SAC and the 1st option in SAS the last 2 years. 

We upgrade on both sides of the ball and get younger as well.
