Bullseye: Deshaun Thomas and LaQuinton Ross 460x
LaQuinton Ross, left, and DeShaun Thomas, right, have been leading the Buckeyes

It's not easy to gameplan against a team that has two great scorers at the forward positions, especially when their games are as versatile and balanced as these two. Power forward DeShaun Thomas is the Buckeyes leading scorer and one of the top scorers in the nation, and small forward LaQuinton Ross isn't far behind him. Together, these two are averaging 43 points per game, the top among any duo in college basketball.

Thomas has built his game around attacking from the mid range. He'll usually either get the ball in the post and go to work there, or catch it around 18 feet, face up, and attack. His deadly jumper keeps defenses from sagging off on him, and he can drive right by a lot of defenders. He doesn't lose the ball often as he keeps a solid grip on the rock, and his good footwork allows him to create a lot of open shots for himself. Don't think he's just a mid range and in kind of player either. He's currently making a three per game on 34% shooting from distance.

Ross, on the other hand, is more of a traditional perimeter threat, and he's already drained 2.7 threes per game this year on 38% shooting. He likes to catch and shoot, and at 6'8", has no problem shooting over defenders. He's also got a good mid range game, but he doesn't like to drive too much. Over 70% of his offense comes off catch and shoot opportunities.

Both of these players have similar downfalls, they don't offer much outside of scoring, they aren't great defenders or rebounders, and neither are incredibly athletic (though Ross would beg to differ). Ross seems to be the better prospect as of right now, as he has great height for a wing and has a better feel for the game, but Thomas is undoubtedly a more talented and skilled player. Both absolutely make a case to be a first round pick, and if Thomas can find a position, he'll be the better player in the long run.

That question is still a ways away, and with the tournament coming up, look for these two special players to show everyone that Ohio State is the team to fear this March.
