Dallas Welcomes VucRozanHill
Dallas Welcomes VucRozanHill
Dallas, TX
General Manager, Tanner Owen, of the Dallas Mavericks, has finally made his mark on the team. Dallas saw their first trade of the Off-Season a couple of days ago. They sent the rebounding defensive anchor, Patric Young, sharpshooter Kyle Korver, BDiddy, Baron Davis, and 39th CSL Scoring Leader in points (20K+ points) Antawn Jamison along with the 6th overall pick in the 2014 draft to the Boston Celtics in return for DeMar DeRozan, Nikola Vucevic, George Hill, and an unprotected 1st Round Pick from the Atlanta Hawks.
Vucevic, DeRozan, and Hill will look to get significant minutes with Dallas.
Nikola Vucevic will look to continue to improve on both ends of the court while DeMar DeRozan will try to bounce back from a torn MCL that took him out late in the season...and will likely take about a month into next season to fully recover. With the addition of George Hill, speculation is that either Tony Parker might have played his last game as a Maverick, or he may start next to Parker at shooting guard, despite the team still having Wesley Matthews and Gerald Green. "We have no comment regarding trade rumors or speculation at this time. Sorry." Owen said when asked about the future of [Tony] Parker.
"What we can say though, is that [DeMar] DeRozan will see a significant increase in minutes once he returns. We understand his injury and we are taking the proper precautions with him. We knew what we were getting into when we discussed trade talks with DennisJ. We have high hopes for him and expect he'll have a great season with us." Owen discussed further.
The starting lineup looks a bit more complete after the trade with a pretty decent bench. People have also brought up Cody Zeller, the raw center who should flashes of greatness during the season, if he'll be coming off the bench to back up Vucevic, or if he'll start along side his new teammate.
"We have a plan for the team. Mark [Cuban], Rick [Carlisle], and I have been talking a lot together, discussing the direction of the team...this trade took awhile to complete, because we wanted to make sure we were going to get the best value we possibly could have gotten for Patrick [Young] and the #6 pick. This move, we felt would further bring us along." Owen said in the closing sentence of his post trade interview.
Small rumor from Yahoo! Insider Adrian Wojnarowski, is that Dallas isn't quite done yet and could be on the verge of sending Wesley Matthews or Gerald Green out for either a guard or a center. Wojnarowski is one of the most reliable sources when it comes to CSL rumors. So no matter how small the trade may be, if he says someone might be on the move...there's a great chance it's likely to happen. It'll be interesting to see what else the Dallas Management has up their sleeves.

I like the moves as a whole especially Vucevic who I really am high on and once DeMar returns you've got yourself a nice core.
If you could package Zeller and Matthews into someone like LaMarcus Aldridge (not saying he's available or this is equal, just throwing a name out there) or another fairly young established PF who may not fit on a certain team then go for it cause moving forward I think DeRozan Vucevic PF locks down some of the most important positions in the League and they'd be young enough to grow together.
Good luck going forward, not too much though since we're in the same division

I thought you did pretty well in the trade as well. Vucevic is a monster and is still getting better. If he continues this upward trend he will be very good for a long time.

Wow, DAL is going to be a much improved team next season. Very good trades, no longer a guaranteed victory when you play vs DAL... good moves and looking forward to what you can get for Mathews/Green

Vucevic was great last season. After TC be will be a Monster. But I have to admit he nearly reached all his potentials. Got only left ~3-5 Points in reb and defense. Maybe you should have tried to extend the trade into a three way to flip Hill for something. If you get something to fill your void at PF you should be fine. Nevertheless I believe it will be hard to get into the Playoffs.

I like Vuc. Not a fan of Derozan though.
Should be interesting.

I think talking playoffs for DAL is a bit pre-mature in the Über competitive West...

I'm afraid to talk about playoffs for my squad myself because the West is so damn tough.

I definitely did like Vuc but I'm seeing he has a lot of room to grow yet but is already 24 and I just don't see him reaching it.

Hard to find franchise centers, I hope he develops into one and you hit with the #6 pick.
