Dallas Sends Nikola Vucevic, Udonis Haslem, Joel Freeland...Lands Jeff Teague, Channing Frye
Dallas, TC
The twin tower center duo of Nikola Vucevic and Marc Gasol, has come to an end in Dallas Texas today. It was announced by the front office that they have traded Nikola Vucevic, along with "bad boy" Udonis Haslem and front office favorite, Joel Freeland to the Milwaukee Bucks in exchange for Jeff Teague and Channing Frye. Many questioned the trade by Dallas claiming they didn't get enough in return.
Jeff Teague will look to try and improve his game in Dallas.
"Did we get fair value out of the trade? Some would argue. Could we have gotten more? Probably. But the fact remains, out of all the teams in the league, they just weren't willing to part with equal value for Vuc. Everyone wants to win a trade by a huge landslide. Did Milwaukee win the trade? Yeah probably, did they win it in a landslide? I don't think so, otherwise I wouldn't have done the trade." General Manager Tanner Owen said. "Obviously, we all want more. More, more more. But when it comes down to it, we aren't always willing to give what's needed to get more. This is also the first trade of another coming up...and judging by the response from this trade, I don't think they'll like it either. Oh well, I'm the GM of the team and I'll run it as I see fit." he finished.
Dallas has added a score first PG to go along with DeMar DeRozan and OJ Mayo...will one basketball be enough?
Adding Jeff Teague, who is a shoot first point guard, to go along with first option DeMar DeRozan and second option OJ Mayo...the Mavericks wont have any problems scoring the ball...but then you add in David West and Marc Gasol, who also like scoring too (I mean, who doesn't like scoring baskets?). Will it really work for Dallas? It's hard to tell. Will the Mavericks win more games, yeah definitely. Will they be able to sneak into the playoffs this year? Fat chance with how deep the Western Conference is. But they'll certainly be a fun team to watch.
On his last game as a Maverick, playing PF, Nikola Vucevic finished the game with 10 points, 6 rebounds, and 2 blocked shots in 20 minutes of play due to foul trouble. At a time when it seemed like Vuc was really coming along...it just seemed that having both centers out there at the same time...was hurting both centers. Vuc was under performing as was Marc Gasol...the paint was just to cluttered for both big men. We even saw Vucevic come off the bench for Dallas too.
"We decided that the paint wasn't big enough for Gasol and Nik...so we had Nik as our sixth man...but then we thought that this kid is just too good to be coming off the bench, he needs to start. So he went back into the lineup. Trading Nik is something that needed to be done for both the Dallas Mavericks and Nikola Vucevic. We were trying to hang on to him but things come up. We wish Nik the best of luck in Milwaukee and know he's found a good home under great management." Tanner Owen said, finishing off the interview.
With the trade, Nik Vucevic will now be starting with Kenneth Faried. If you remember, that was supposed to happen in Dallas during the offseason, but due to an overlooked mistake by all three teams, it didn't happen. This time, it's official. We will finally get to see the duo of Faried and Vucevic work together in the paint in Milwaukee. Pay attention to that people.

I like the trade because youre dtarting lineup AND bench got better. Gasol and West should be a beast of a front court.

As I've said before I like this trade for you, I really like Jeff Teague. But let's see how those guys are going to fit together..
I think you should start some shooter at SF and let DeRozan come off the bench..
