Wow, Brown shot way up the draft board with his individual article a while back and his performance in the pre-draft tournament. Interesting pick for Chicago.

Hmm, I think he could be solid, but maybe a couple other big men would have been better here.

Re: Round 1 - Pick 14 - Miami Heat
The Miami Heat have selected Alec Brown Senior Green Bay Phoenix
The rights to Alec Brown will be traded to the Chicago Bulls in exchange for Rudy Gobert.
General Manager BenRipCity has been hot on Brown throughout the combine. Alecs still very raw but has a very broad game.
There are some red flags, Alec has played well but has not exactly dominated at the college level. Even in a division as weak as the Horizon league. Posting advrages of 15.8 PPG and 5.8 RPG as one of two scoring options on the team. The other being friend and college roommate Kiefer Sykes.(pictured below). Alec is a weak rebounder for his size. At times he can seem lost in the game. Stronger more physical post players can give him trouble.
Pros of Alecs game include his amazing court awareness for a player of his size. Brown has a lethal 3 point shot (shot 44% on more than 3 attempts per game). Alec has also improved greatly all 4 seasons at UW-GBP. He is a great shot blocker advrageing over 3 BPG last season. Can play multiple positions, In the CSL maybe more or a 4? or a 3 even.

I think he will get bullied by a lot of the centers in this league if he plays at the five spot. Will he be able to defend the quicker power forwards across the CSL?

I really think the only reason this guy was even in 1st round consideration was just because of that article. Really hyped him up.
In reality, he's a 7 foot Steve Novak. You're almost certainly going to have to have another center on the floor with him at all times just to get any rebounds, but he might not be able to guard PFs either, as Rizzo said.

Depending on how you value certain things, you could be looking at what Andrea Bargnani was supposed to become if you beef him up and play him at C, or you could be looking at a 7'1" SF.

Interesting, there is another center on the board I thought would be gone by now. Alec seems he could develop into a Matt Bonner with better help defense which isn't bad at this stage of the draft. His scouting report reminds me of Bargnani a bit.

To be honest Bonner/Vesly/PJIII type is what I hope he turns into. backup for 3 4 5
Also for you NBL guys does he remind anyone else of Randle Hanke before the restart?

He'd make a great PF. IMO low weight and good height are always good combinations.
I liked him, since I don't value rebounding that much. Good pickup IMO.

Actually low weight and good height is bad for a post player in the DDS engine. Their PA/SF goes up when that happens, and PA/SF is the primary defensive metric for bigs.

Maybe. If you're a good shotblocker shouldn't matter too much IMO at PF. B-Wright's always been fantastic defensively.
