Pick 15 - Round 1 - Toronto Raptors
Heading into the 2014 CSL draft, the Toronto Raptors had one thing on their mind after having issues with their scouting team all season long... move the pick. After a number of conversations with teams around the league, the Raptors find themselves on the clock with the pick still in their hands. They have spent the last week speaking to prospects and working the wire to determine who to select and whilst still completely unsure, have settled on a player.
With the 15th pick in the 2014 CSL Draft, the Toronto Raptors select Rasheed Sulaimon from Duke University.
Press had reported that Suliamon might be a reach near the top 10 but the Raptors felt comfortable with the pick later on knowing a little bit about Suliamon. A product of Duke and a coach on the floor under Coach K, meeting with the team had Raptors scouts feeling the kid had a good grasp on basketball IQ and the talent to grow on both ends of the floor. With the Raptors partial to the two guard setup and with Jeff Teague reportedly on his way out, Suliamon will have every chance to work with Brandon Jennings and Victor Oladipo in Toronto.

Maybe a stretch but his combine IQ impressed us (games not that much) as well as some commentary we read so we'll see how it goes.

A player I considered briefly, and seems to be good value here.

I never scouted Sulaimon but MSN-BC mocked him high, though there wasn't much hype around him this season.
I was really gunning for your pick here, too bad it didn't work out.

Honestly think, as far as the SGs go, Harris is 1A and Sulaimon is 1B. You can't say one is definitively better than the other yet, they are both very equal. I like this pick.

Before any of this, Harris was a guy we looked at but we do really like Suliamon's IQ. Plus, at 6'4", he should be able to play the off guard too.

Didn't scout him but was shocked when I saw him mocked in the top-10. If he and Gary Harris are options 1A and 1B at ftw shooting guard position, here's to hoping we both grabbed great prospects!
