Round 1 - Pick 25 - Minnesota Timberwolves
As the draft progressed, Jake was lighting up the phone lines calling anyone and everyone who owned a mid-round draft pick to try to move up to grab one of their targets. They offered all of their picks remaining in the draft, 4 of them, in an attempt to draft Glenn Robinson or Andre Roberson, both of whom fell in the draft and could have filled a niche of the Wolves' roster. But alas, there were no takers and Jake eventually accepted his fate to wait and stay put at #25.
At this point in the draft, the Wolves were picking blind. They had hoped for a nice lottery prospect to fall to them, but instead, they're left with a pool of prospects that Jake is either not familiar with or entirely unimpressed with. But on second look at the remaining players, one guy stands out: Deshaun Thomas. The senior Buckeye was a former Indiana Mr. Basketball, named to numerous AP All-American teams in college, led Ohio State to a Big Ten Championship, was a McDonalds All-American, as well as being named to the 1st team, 2nd team, and 3rd team All-Big Ten during his tenure at Ohio State.
In the end, his experience and alpha player ability was the reason Jake went with him. He's shown the ability to be the number one option in college, and though he won't be asked to do anything like that in the CSL, the hope is that some of his ability will translate well to the bench spot behind Kevin Love.

Should be able to score a little but but brings not much of anything else to the table.

Yeah, that's what I saw as well. Unfortunately, I really couldn't find much of value this late in the draft. It was really top heavy imo.

There are a couple of decent centers left that would've fit well IMO. Dunno much about this guy.

Don't know much about Thomas, but he seems like he could be at least a decent role player. If so, this is a good pick.

Love shooters, so love this pick for this stage in the draft.
