Brandon Rush signs with Miami
Brandon Rush has agreed to terms with the Miami Heat. Miami was the only team to truly pursue Rush, and he's thankful for the opportunity with the defending champs.
"What an opportunity man, I'm extremely thankful," Rush said in a phone call with reporters after agreeing with the Heat. "I can't wait to join the defending champs and get to work with the guys."
The contract is for a one year minimum deal, with a player option for a second year.

Sweet. We needed a backup SF and Rush looks like a great fit for us.

mmmmh was really thinking about him, but due to a pretty slowly PA, who didnt answer until now, my money is/was "stuck" in another offer. Waiting since 2 days for an answer.. Pretty annoying, anyway, didnt even know somebody was after Rush, if I would have known I believe I would have offered him the starting role at SG + no bad money, at least my LLE.. sucks to see him sign out of nowhere..

Damn that sucks, but you could've expressed your interest in him and whatnot. That's the reason we introduced PAs, for everything to be more fluid. I've personally gone back and forth a lot and have also inquired on a ton of guys.

Its a little odd to see someone sign for the min so early on when they might have gotten more later on, but nice pickup for Miami to get depth on the wings.

Yeah, specially because it's early, there is at least one more week of FAP, and also the players who I've offered the minimum or even my MLE are still waiting for better offers. :/

Should have the easiest job to just sit in the corner and rain down threes playing off Durant and Ellis.

Was no offense. And you are absolutely right. Could have expressed my interest, my fault!orangeparka (MIA) wrote:Damn that sucks, but you could've expressed your interest in him and whatnot. Just didnt know he got already offers, or would sign that fast, thats why I didnt.
He could have gotten way more, IMO. Maybe the best 3pt shooter ind the game and a decent defender. His rating "sucks" (62 def I believe?), but he got nearly the perfect height+weight combination to stay in front of other SF (63%STP, 0.8 PA last year, 46% from beyond the arc, 1 TO per game -> btw the reason I drafted Bazz, he should end up being a defender at nearly the same level)..
At least Brandon could have earned a contract like DeRozan or Oden last year..

Yeah, waiting for the PAs to respond gets a little bit annoying, because then I'm not able to offer anyone else anything until I hear back from the PA... :/

Re: Brandon Rush signs with Miami
I gotta chime in with this piece of advice as a GM especially since we have PA's...
Why even wait for an answer before going onto the next? Particularly for possible MLE or vet min guys... I send "feelers" to the Agencies as a possible "place holder" for said player just to let the Agent know I have an interest in a guy and hope they keep me in mind before making a decision.
If guys wait for one player at a time you probably will miss out... Just sayin'.
Also keep in mind one agency stated if gm's continue to lowball it's FA clients they won't take them serious enough to respond after receiving initial response.
Sidenote: Lol at op trying to get cheap talent on the low. Nice move.

Re: Brandon Rush signs with Miami
No doubt about that Willy. But couldnt see brandon signing such a bad deal, so I thought there is time left. Especially because the first News about brandon was "he signed".. Come on .. PA didnt even mention there is any interest. Have to say my tactic was to wait as long as possible for chasing Rush because everbody else could have spend most of their Money for other players, so he could be a steal later in FA. Didnt know the PA wouldnt make it Public Rush got offers..
Just couldnt Imagine Rush would Rush (lololol, Sorry) into such a bad contract.
Whatever. He's gone. Maybe he prefers playing for a Winner over getting 2-5m/year anyway. So no clue.
But whats Notable.. There are big differences between PA. Some doesnt answer, some rushing into bad contracts, some do something else. Like it. Its like in reallife:). Even if it was bad for us here. Nevertheless this wasnt a really bad one for Rush. Looking at the the salary he could have gotten way more, but now he gets a ring. Seems to be ok

I only have one MLE but probably have about five players I've offered it to. If I hear that one of them is willing to accept it then I will have to make a decision on whether to agree or hold off waiting for another target.

Ah anyway will start to offer LLE to guys like Stephenson and Co now. Seeing this, those offers cant be considered lowballing .
Yeah did the same with my MLE. Rush had "the priority two" because I didnt Imagine he signs that fast. Will shoot 100 Messages as soon as Im at home, maybe there is another steal out there.

By the way rookies arent counted as rights anymore right? Are they still tradeable until Start of the season, like ingame, or are they TR until day 90?

^^ I know. Haha. I was waiting for some sort of announcement that guys would be considering min contracts. Guess I should have just offered, but didn't wanna offend the guy.

same here ^^..
already didnt get answers by PA's, so I thought I should stop sending out feelers, because they could stop reading my lowballoffers ^^..

A note from the agency -
Always always always express interest, even if you do not send in a formal offer. Agencies will follow up if you show interest.

See, I didn't even know we were encouraged to do that. I thought it was formal offers only, following the offer template.
I must have missed something but it's all good, just had my eye on Rush is all.

Re: Brandon Rush signs with Miami
really depends on the agency.. some doesnt even answer at all (at least one agency)..
So its pretty hard to figure out if its because your team is to bad, the salary you offered to low, the playing time you offered not enough.. etc.
No names here, but it wasnt you, so its good to know at least you are answering even if it seems to be a lowballoffer or just a feeler.
And like said, no offense, I dont care. Miami just added another starter to their team as their third string SF for a ridiculously low price. But that isnt our problem. Good luck Houston, OKC, Utah, SA:P..
Btw would have loved Rush as a third wing in Houston. Great fit next to Harden to spread the floor for his drives.

a 1 year minimum at such an early stage ? Very very odd.....I wouldn't expect ANYONE to sign for the minimum until the last 2 days of FA.

Depends on the situation. Luke Ridnour signing a 2 year min with PO in Portland (contender) is absolutely ok, I believe, even this early in FA.

Re: Brandon Rush signs with Miami
Ridnour is a completely different situation because the dude is 33 years old and garbage.
Rush is 28, in his prime, with a lot of talent...yet randomly signing with the Heat for a minimum offer ? Odd....very very odd.
This is one scenario where I think player agents are absolutely stupid & ridiculous. It's ultimately up to one random GM (whoever the agency is) to decide who signs where and when.
This is just one situation where I think it should be absolutely required for the agency to state "player x has received this offer for somewhere around this much money" you have 24-48 hours to make offers before he accepts. NO chance whatsoever Rush would accept that offer in the DDS engine.

Re: Brandon Rush signs with Miami
Its a bad idea for agencies to announce the offers their players have received. Its the GMs fault for not doing their due diligence before the player accepted an offer and its not fair to the GM who made the offer.
That said, agencies should generally write a piece saying the players are looking for offers and whatnot like what was done with Dirk, Iggy, etc.
