Jordan Hill Signs Massive One-Year Deal! 1e1c37f32ae13d3ab45c11fe04d09da8

Jordan Hill has, unofficially, just received the biggest raise (percentage wise) in NBA history! If you are drinking anything at this moment, please finish that gulp and get ready for the contract details.

In a shocking event, the Oklahoma City Thunder have signed Jordan Hill to a one-year contract that will pay him...wait for it...

THIRTEEN MILLION, SIX HUNDRED SIXTY EIGHT THOUSAND, SEVEN HUNDRED FIFTY DOLLARS!!!

For those of you not good at reading, the number looks like this: $13,668,750! The reason behind this huge contract is that Jordan Hill will be part of a sign-and-trade to another Western Conference team that is looking to shed serious salary for next offseason.

WOW! Usually a sports agency like Hustle Inc. would like to say that we try to get the best deal for our clients but even this is something we can't take credit for. We would like to thank Marcos Beck and the Oklahoma City Thunder along with the unmentioned team and their GM for making this happen. They have made our client VERY happy!

I like the trade, but is the S&T legal? S&Ts have to be three years if I'm not mistaken

Would be a huge trade for SAC, so much cap space next offseason. But like Biz already said, doesnt work for now.

We're restructuring Hill's deal so it fits under league CBA rules, and he becomes eligible for S&T.
Sorry for any inconvenience!

You can do two final unguaranteed contracts (see Keith bogans contract in real life), I just don't know if you can put that into the game.

Yeah, we're actually trying to do that.
The CBA is a little contradictory on that point, since it says TO / PO can only be applied into the last year of the deal, and ETO on the 4th year of a 5 year deal.
Still, at the S&T section, it says that a player can have a contract of 3 years, though only one guaranteed. As ETO don't apply for 3 year deals, the only way to do it is using TO / PO, like Bogans deal @ NBA (I think)
Anyway the commissioners are gonna talk and decide if that's possible

Thanks a lot for the help Biz Smile

Will be hard, in the NBA it would be possible like Biz already said, but using the DDS3 engine it is only possible to make the last year a PO/TO, I believe.

Well, as it has happened in NBA, it would be nice if it can happen too.
In NBA you have fully unguaranteed deals, here you have Team Options, it's the closest you get to an I unguaranteed deal.
If the CBA allows a team to S&T a player with 3 years contract, though only one guaranteed, I think it's very reasonable to use two Team Options on that specific situation.
Anyway, let the commish decide. What's better for them, I think will be better for the game.

What does the game do for rookie contracts then? The 3rd and 4th years of rookie scale contracts are both team options. I'm not a DDSPB3 expert, but I know 2k allows to to have a 2 year team option.

Those are rookie options no TO, there is a different between those options ingame. Never seen a contract with 2 or more TO/POs in DDS2 or DDS3, but Im maybe wrong.

This would set a whole new precedent for future deals if put through for sure. Although, I;m pretty sure you can't put two options on a contract in this game. It might have to be a two year guaranteed deal in which case the Kings probably don't want that.

I don't think this would push for other deals in the future.
I mean, it's not easy to find such a deal. You gotta have a team willing to absorb lots of salary and a team that wants to cut payrolls and is willing to give up quality players to do so.
You look at the NBA, almost no one do it. Really, how many S&Ts happened in the NBA with that model?
Almost every S&T in the NBA is for some player to have a 5th year on his contract, like Bosh and LeBron did when they joined the Heat..

Dont just look at the trade. Maybe there wont be another case...
But I believe it would be a problem because how many guys would have offered contracts to players with more than one year as option. Cant see the commishs allowing 1+2 contracts at this stage of freeagency. Should have been announced before the FA, so everybody would have been able to use 1+2 contracts.

Jordan Hill Signs Massive One-Year Deal! Empty Re: Jordan Hill Signs Massive One-Year Deal!

Post by Sun Scorched (NOP) Thu Apr 03, 2014 1:35 pm

We're talking about it internally, but I personally think the solution here has less to do with two unguaranteed years and more to do with the rules regulating sign & trades.

If Jordan Hill is going to get maxed out, and I think this whole thing is incredibly creative by the way, I think the rule that we need to revisit is the three year requirement.

I don't see that as necessary, nor do I see any situation where a player not getting a 3 year deal in a S&T as an issue.

We are currently working on a comprehensive CBA FAQ, similar to Larry Coon's for the real CBA.

I got it, but it's actually allowed at the CBA.. But just for S&Ts
You can't offer a player 1+2 not even in the NBA if you are not S&T him.
Also you need to have 3 bird years on someone to S&T him so that makes not only this trade but this kind of contract something unusual. If not, everyone in the NBA would do it.
