Insight - Shooting Guard Review
#1 – Dante Exum is a unique prospect. It’s fair to say that Exum projects to be a very well rounded player. He can score in a variety of ways, either using his tight handle to get to the basket and finish there or running off screens to hit catch and shoot jumpers. Some scouts argue that he's a bit passive, but it looks to me like he's more interested in making the right basketball play. He has a high motor that, combined with his combination of size and athleticism, allows him to do a lot of things some other guards can't do. He crashes the boards hard, he's a workhorse on defense and he finishes through contact well. He may not end up as an elite player at any one skill like Kobe Bryant, or James Harden, or even a specialist like Tony Allen, but he's got the whole package going for him.
#2 – James Young is a solid lottery pick. He may not rate out as well as Exum does across the board, but Young will be a solid starter due to his ability to get the ball to and through the rim. Additionally, Young displays defensive tendencies that, coupled with his growing offensive capabilities, will allow him to play aggressively against opposing wings on both ends of the court.
#3 – Mario Hezonja is all offense. Hezonja ranks out as one of the most complete scoring threats in the draft. Scouts are concerned about his athleticism and defensive capabilities at the professional level. There remain doubts about Hezonja’s ability to acclimate to the CSL game, but this young kid has an incredible passion for the game and, if put into the right system, should be able to reach his full potential.
#4 – Marcus Eriksson is another player who prides himself on solid, hard-nosed defense. Although he will be efficient on the next level, don’t ask him tack points onto your box score. Eriksson is one of the smartest players in the draft and maintains a high level of hardwood intelligence. However, some scouts argue that Eriksson will struggle to get his teammates involved due to poor court vision and his relatively loose handles.
#5 – Aaron Harrison has displayed a nice shooting stroke so far this collegiate season, but hasn’t shown any strong ability elsewhere. That being said, this kid shows up every night and rarely misses practice. Harrison is a bull when he gets into the paint as well and has shown solid ability to get trips to the charity stripe with regularity.

Exum reads like Porter to me. This is not looking like an exciting draft class so far from these previews, but we'll see what scouting brings.

Exum looks like a unique prospect, whoever drafts him will be very happy, I think. I'd love to pair him with George on my wings but it will be almost impossible.

The description of Harrison doesn't sound so bad if he's not in the lottery, but maybe that's just his name talking.
