Thompson Agrees to Contract Extension in Houston
Tristan Thompson is having a career year. Posting 13.6 points per game and 12.5 rebounds per game (good for 3rd in the league), Tristan has thrived in the offensive scheme that Willy has created in Houston. Conversations were swift when it came time for extension discussions, as Sterling Cooper Draper Pryce and Willy were able to come to an agreement virtually overnight.
Tristan has logged a career high in minutes per game and is also posting more than two blocks per contest. In addition, Tristan has already amassed 9 double-doubles in 13 games this season.
Tristan's contract extension will begin next season at $10m and totals $44,500,000 over four years with maximum raises and a player option in the 4th year.

Great news!
We were looking forward to ensuring Thompson would be here in Houston for the next 4 years as he is a huge part of our system.
Great working with the SCDP Agency.

Early MIP candidate. Contract is a bit of a risk but if he keeps up this production it's well worth it.

You know, he's always been an under-the-radar type guy. His rebounding #s have always been great and he seems custom built to be in a system where he doesn't have to score, which is nice because his %s suck. It's definitely a hefty contract, but seems in-line with a few offseason signings.

Agreed, not only does he not have to score...he doesn't try to which frees up shots for Harden. Very solid (Canadian) playerSun Scorched (CHA) wrote:blackice (ATL) wrote:Early MIP candidate. Contract is a bit of a risk but if he keeps up this production it's well worth it.

Thompson is definitely a good player. Players have been getting paid with these extensions so far.
