Aldridge Signs Extension with Portland
LaMarcus Aldridge has a chance to finish his career with the team that drafted him given Portland's hot pursuit of the talented big man. Aldridge has been a staple of Blazer offense long before Mr. Damian Lillard arrived on scene. Apparently, the Portland brass agree.
Due to their commitment in pursuing LaMarcus combined with the teams record and chances for post-season success, LaMarcus called Sterling Cooper Draper Pryce late last night after drinks with close friends and family to confirm his acceptance of the maximum contract extension on table, offered by Portland's front office.
LaMarcus' acceptance make him the highest paid unrestricted free agent to sign a contract extension. The contract is structured as follows:
Year 1 - $16,543,800
Year 2 - $17,784,585
Year 3 - $19,025,370
Year 4 - $20,266,155
Total - $73,619,910
The contract contains the maximum salary, raises and years.

Nicely done by both. Extending him was a must and Blazers did it right by locking their player and the agency also did well accepting nothing less than a max deal for him.

Can't say I would have been willing to pay him that much cash, but he's pivotal to the Blazers success so it's definitely deserved. Great job locking him up though and preventing other teams from getting a chance. The Lillard-LMA duo is going to be absolutely dominant and a consistent playoff team as long as those 2 are on board.

I see, everybody will be resigned before FA. My cap will be worth nothing ..

Re: Aldridge Signs Extension with Portland
Lots of players still to be signed.. And most are signing for the maximum allowed..
I think a player would only re-sign without testing FA waters if he gets max money or if he feels unsure about if he could get a better offer at Free Agency.. And so far SCDP has done a masterful job here. Aldridge, George and Rubio got max money. Both Thompson got really paid, maybe they could get better money at FA, but they are going to be paid top money anyway. Chandler is coming of a season-ending injury and is 31.. He's going to be 32 when his extension kicks and when he's 36 he's still be paid top dollar. And Koufos, no one would have give him 6M without having Rubio on it's own team LOL

This. Which is why I banned extensions in NAH, and why GAH also bans extensions. Any time you put an extension system in place, one or both of two things happens:
1. All the good FAs sign before free agency.
2. Teams massively overpay to extend their FAs, leaving the number of teams with any cap space to speak of very small.
Whereas no extension leagues make free agency damned exciting and entertaining to watch.

Wasnt an offense at all. Like said multiple times SCDP is doing a great job.
Just mentioned my Capspace wont be worth much if everbody resigns. Wasnt intended to be criticism.

Yeah, it really makes sense as FA gets way more interesting.
Im absolutely sure SCDP is doing the best they can to make reasonable deals, but I believe letting the engine decide where FAs sign would be way more interesting as its decided by "random" where a FA will land.

I'm sure there will be plenty of free agents to hit the market. This was something POR had to do to keep their core intact.

Re: Aldridge Signs Extension with Portland
Decent value, if LMA was a bit more impactful on the defensive end it would be a no brainer. Still 21/8 on 50 FG% with floor spreading ability is rare so I understand.

As a lifelong Celtics fan, I know first hand that top-tier free agents don't willingly sign in Boston.

Melo, LeBron (ETO), Wade (ETO), Bosh (ETO), Marc & Pau Gasol, Rudy Gay, Carlos Boozer, Roy Hibbert (PO), Brook Lopex (PO), Goran Dragic (PO), Aaron Afflalo (PO), John Wall (RFA), Kyrie Irving (RFA), Enes Kanter (RFA), Kawhi Leonard (RFA), Kemba Walker (RFA), Jeremy Lin, Chandler Parsons, Nikola Vucevic (RFA), Amir Johnson, Rajon Rondo.....
Just off the top of my head - there will be FAs folks, take it easy.

Re: Aldridge Signs Extension with Portland
Plus, this is a media driven league, right?
If you like a potential free agent, right an article about it. Show the player some love. Let SCDP know you like the guy and there would be legit interest from another team.
If you're willing, or think a player is worth a max contract, let the agency know. Plus, just cause you're not trying to sign a free agent doesn't mean you can't PM SCDP your interest.
