BT's Rankings
I promised some more so here they are. After the last set of rankings where I posted them in an excel to bbcode table, they were hard to read so I've posted a screenshot this time and prettied them up which should make them easier to read.
For those unaware, I took these from here: http://espn.go.com/nba/hollinger/powerrankings and the calculation and explanation below is what was used.
RATING = (((SOS-0.5)/0.037)*0.67) + (((SOSL10-0.5)/0.037)*0.33) + 100 + (0.67*(MARG+(((ROAD-HOME)*3.5)/(GAMES))) + (0.33*(MARGL10+(((ROAD10-HOME10)*3.5)/(10)))))
SOS = Season win/loss percentage of team's opponents, expressed as a decimal (e.g., .500)
SOSL10 = Season win/loss percentage of team's last 10 opponents, expressed as a decimal (e.g., .500)
MARG = Team's average scoring margin
MARGL10 = Team's average scoring margin over the last 10 games
HOME = Team's home games
HOMEL10 = Team's home games over the last 10 games
ROAD = Team's road games
ROADL10 = Team's road games over the last 10 games
GAMES = Team's total games
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------
BT's Rankings, enjoy.

Re: BT's Rankings
Just an observation compared to the NBA rankings but scores here are so off really and margins too powerful.
The best NBA margin is the Spurs at 7.72 and here it's Pelicans at 17.1 which is way off. There are 7 teams with a greater margin than the Spurs in the NBA.
On the flip side, the worse NBA team is the Sixers at -10.45 and here it's the Celtics at -19.6 per. There are 3 teams much worse than the Sixers and 2 just as bad.
Just an interesting observation. Blowouts in these sim leagues seem way to big compared to the current NBA.

Re: BT's Rankings
Behind the scenes, the admin team has been trying to figure out a way to get the scoring down because it is just absurdly high, but it really is just the game engine.

Re: BT's Rankings
DDS3 is pretty absurd with the scores, first time I've seen it. Then again, it could be due to the usual amount of high SCR ratings, right ? I mean the league average is way way way too high.

Re: BT's Rankings
Great ranking BT!
Good to know that my team is at the middle, higher than what my current record is indicating.
I've the 5th highest SOS (.520) and my last 10 games' SOS is (.570).
My margin is -1.5.
Lost close games to tough opponents...

Re: BT's Rankings
SOS of .514, one of the highest. Paying in the northwest division sucks.

Re: BT's Rankings
thanks for this
Interesting though that all of the top 10 teams are below .500 SOS while almost all of the bottom 10 teams are above .500 SOS. How can this be explained? Would your record have an impact on SOS?

Re: BT's Rankings
Absolutely it does. If I'm the Pelicans, I never have to play myself, which means my strength of schedule will automatically be lower. But because I'm the Spurs, and I never get to play myself, my strength of schedule will automatically be higher. Make sense?
