He's Back: Kings resign Davis
Kings retain Ed Davis
They got their man. The Sacramento Kings announced they re-signed power forward Ed Davis on Saturday. Sacramento made Davis, who averaged around 12 points and 8 rebounds per game last season, their top priority this offseason, and made it clear they weren't letting him go.
In the statement released announcing the signing, Kings GM Dylan said:
Dylan wrote:We couldn't be happier to retain Ed. He's a crucial part of our core and will most definitely be one of the centerpieces of this young team. There was no way we were letting the kid go, no way.
The feeling was mutual, as Ed made clear in a conference call with reports a few hours after the announcement:
Ed Davis wrote:This was the only place for me, man. I love being a King, I love the city, the fans, my teammates everything. I'm so excited to stay and play for this organization for the next five years.
The 26 year old must also be pretty happy about the payday he's going to receive. Davis will make $12 million a year over the next five years, totaling $60 million.
Re: He's Back: Kings resign Davis
I think I posted this before but Davis will be a strong MIP candidate next season, he's a great building block for this young team.

Really like Davis. He has the skills you want your young big to have. Personally, I like him more as a C and would bulk him up slightly.
I think you're going after Seraphin - those two would make a great young front court duo for you.

I believe Seraphin is asking too much. SAC doesnt even have a full MLE left, do they?
Ed will be great for them. Like him more as Center too.

Gonna be interesting to see if he earns that contract now that Smith and Horford are gone but you had to pay to keep him.
