In just two short days the Houston Rockets make a couple of moves to solidify their interior by signing 22yr old C Bismack Biyombo to an extension worth $36.5M in total for the next four yrs ensuring the young shotblocker to be a Rocket for the foreseeable future while also making a trade in the midst of the night with the Eastern Conference South East Division leading Atlanta Hawks sending PF Nick Collison along with the Milwaukee Bucks 2015 2nd Rd Pick in exchange for C Chris Kaman who is slated to move into the starting lineup sources say.

Well first off we are thrilled to extend Bismack to his contract making sure he'll be here for awhile... it's hard to get a young big who's willing to learn and improve which is what he's done here and it shows on the court and we rewarded him with the extension... Shotblocking and rebounding are some of the tougher things to do and to get a youngster like Biz to buy into what we need of him on the defensive end is huge for us, it showed in the Finals last season as we missed his presence in the post defensively and we paid for it, then and now, literally (laughs)... Well Chris is a guy we thought we had signed last offseason then Indy came and made a late push for him and we lost out but eventually we were able to get him and hopefully the gamble of trading a 2nd rd pick for him pays off as you never know who can fall in these drafts but the payoff we're hoping to be much bigger than that as we feel his offensive skillset of being able to pass and score away from the basket will open the floor up more for us, for guys like James when he returns and Andre and Danilo and Terrence and Tristan as well should be able to roam a bit more freely on the court similar to last season hopefully while Chris also gives us a bigger body on the defensive boards... Well we informed Chris he will be inserted into the starting lineup due to uh the things I just mentioned and we'll continue to bring Biyombo off the bench as a change of pace shotblocking presence... Well hopefully we get positive results from this so we'll see...we'll see... Alright thanks guy.

I'm very happy, very very happy to be here signing in Houston long term and I just hope I continue to go out there and perform and block shots for my teammates. Thank you!

Well I'm glad to be going from one winning environment to another and getting the chance to play is uh is the icing on the cake ya know... It just wasn't meant to be the first time around and I thought Indiana was a better overall choice so keep in mind this was before Houston made a run to the Finals last season, those guys had lost in the 1st rd I believe and I just thought it was a better opportunity for me in Indy but hey, I'm here now and that's the past so hopefully we can move on and uh concentrate on basketball and I look forward to playing here and thankful for the chance to get the playing time and hope I can help the team as much as possible... Alright thanks.

Next up for Houston is Detroit and after League processing etc, ironically Kaman's first game as a Rocket will be against his former team, the Indiana Pacers.

Kaman deserves minutes and has a role on your team, hope he helps. You overpaid Biz, I don't think his market value was that high but at least you don't have to worry about FA now.
