Minnesota Locks in Parsons Long Term Liuhkt9

After months of deliberation and negotiations between Parsons' agency, Sterling Cooper Draper Price, and the Timberwolves' front office, the two sides have finally reached a deal that will keep Chandler Parsons in a Wolves uniform for the next 4 years, with a maximum extension. Chandler's contract starts at over 13.5 million next year, with 7.5% raises annually.

So what does this mean for the Wolves moving forward? Well, given the trade restriction rules, you can guarantee that Chandler Parsons is not included in the rumored trade making it's way around the league. It also eliminates any leniency the Wolves might have had going into free agency. With Chandler's cap hit exploding from under 1 million to well over 13, they'll be far over the cap before even taking into account the raises for the rest of their players along with Lin's extension/signing and Love's signing if he decides to opt out.

It's also going to change the offseason plans for many teams. The Wolves' front office has talked to many potential suitors about Parsons' eligibility, and there's no doubt given his popularity around the league, he would have received multiple max offers from many teams with tons of cap space like Charlotte, Los Angeles, Boston, Memphis, Orlando, Milwaukee, Phoenix... you get the point. Basically, any team with cap space would have given a hard look at Chandler Parsons.

Now maybe Jeremy Lin is up next.

Great news for the Minny franchise and fanbase, had to have something to show for trading Rubio, now get that team going in the right direction, your starting 5 is awesome, Chandler and McLemore are a nice duo moving forward.

An overpay but a needed one. I'm wondering if there's going to be more people openly saying that they'd pay max money to have any FA, as it seemed to work with Parsons, after knowing his value was skyhigh Wolves could not find any discount for locking him.
