Rockets Report: Lakers Coming to Town
The Houston Rockets (14-5) sit atop the SW Division, a half game ahead of the new look New Orleans Pelicans (13-5) who have gotten off to yet another astonishingly fast start to the season behind the stellar play of 2nd yr phenom Marcus Smart and 3rd yr player Anthony Davis is starting to come into his own this season while also trading for C DeAndre Jordan, Dion Waiters (who should return from injury around All Star Break), and veteran Jason Terry.
The division, which has been owned by the San Antonio Spurs seems to be going through a change with the Rockets and Pelicans as the only teams above .500 while the Mavs, Grizzlies, and Spurs currently sit at .375 or below during this young season.
The Rockets have the Los Angeles Lakers (13-5) come into town led by guards Russell Westbrook and Bradley Beal who look to get the win to stay atop the Pacific Division with the Warriors (14-6) and Clippers (11-6) nipping at their heels. Lakers brass had this to say about the upcoming matchup between division leaders:
We caught up with the Rockets at shootaround today to get their feelings on the upcoming matchups.
The Lakers come into Houston tonite to face the Rockets without C Al Horford who is out likely until the 1st of the year with a broken wrist in a battle that could perhaps be setting the tone for two teams who are anticipating making the Playoffs and competing for a CSL title as well!
Stay tuned for more news as we hear it!

It's gonna be a really tough matchup... I went up against Russ in practice back in our OKC days but that's been awhile ago and we're both different players now so I'm looking forward to it... Yeah then the um... the game in New Orleans is gonna be really big I think cause it'll give both teams a chance to see how we matchup with each other... Alright.
Just another game... just another game ya know? Honestly I'm looking forward to being off for a couple of days after tonite's game cause the schedule has been kinda brutal so far so I think we all could use the rest, take advantage of the time off and come back refreshed cause we haven't been playing well at all on the road against the better teams so that's what we gotta do... take advantage of the time off, recuperate, and come back ready to compete better than we have been... Well the scoring lead is uh, is important as a personal goal I set for myself coming into the season cause I was really close last year but at the end of the day if I don't get it it's cool... I'm more concerned with us overall as a team and playing better on the road... Alright guys...
Umm, it's gonna be some interesting games, Russ is playing well and so is their young guy Bradley Beal so it's gonna be a challenge tonite so we have to come in focused and we should be able to perform at a high level when we get dialed in... Yeah, I agree with James. We have been on the go and I know I'm looking forward to the time off and spend it with my family and umm be ready to get back to work against New Orleans... Thanks guys...
Just looking to be more consistent than what I've been, especially shooting the ball... Well defensively I feel like I'm locked in but I could shoot the ball a little better and we have a tough matchup against the Lakers tonite so it's gonna be another tough night but I think I'm figuring it out... Coach is giving me confidence so I think I'll be good... Ok...
Well it's my job to get the guys prepared so we'll take it one game at a time and tonite we've got a heckuva tough matchup against LA I mean gosh... those guys are so explosive at the guard position between Russell and Bradley and then they have Pau playing at a high level so it's gonna be a difficult challenge for our guys and I hope I get 'em ready for tonite... We'll think about the the Pelicans game when the time comes guys but for now we uh, we have the Lakers tonite so that's where our focus should be and not worrying about scheduling or time off or whatever because this team, LA could come in here and embarrass us if our heads aren't where it should be and that's on tonite's game...
Alright thanks guys...

In order for us to win, I believe we need a career game from Westbrook with Horford out.

This might boil down to the SG matchup, if Beal can have a respectable showing vs. Harden then Westbrook might have enough in the tank to carry the Lakers to victory.
That said HOU is underrated defensively and are the overwhelming favourites in this one due to Horford's injury.
